Caroline sat in her car, looking straight in front of her. All her eyes could see was the boarding house. She wasn't sure if she was ready to go inside, Elena would be with Damon, Bonnie with Jeremy and...Caroline with no one. At least she had Stefan and Enzo by her side. It was now or never, she thought to herself. She opened her car door and went outside, looking outside, the snow was still falling down. She could hear everyone in the house, they were talking and laughing.

She walked to the door and took a deep breath. She raised her hand just so that she could knock. A few seconds later the door opened and Stefan stood there. "Caroline!" He said and smiled warmly, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into a tight hug. Caroline hugged him back gently, then she pulled away and looked at him. Stefan looked back at her, and raised a brow. He could see that something was wrong, and he immediately got concerned. "What's wrong?" He asked her, he took a step back so she could step inside.
Caroline shrugged her shoulders, she took her jacket off without looking at him. "Hey." Stefan said and made her look at him, he placed his hand on Caroline's cheek and stroked it with a soft touch. "Where is he?" He whispered and looked down at her.

Caroline wanted to cry, and she wanted to yell. She wanted to say how upset she was because Klaus wasn't here yet. Tomorrow it was Christmas and he would probably miss that too. But instead she just made her best to smile. "He'll come..when he has time." She said with sadness in her tone. Stefan slowly nodded and pulled her into a hug again. They stayed quiet for a few minutes and then they pulled back. "Give the Original some time." He said and nudged her arm playfully. Caroline laughed quietly, Stefan was always good at cheering her up. "Come on, where is everyone?" She asked him curiously. "In the living room." Stefan said and took her hand in his. He started to walk towards the living room with her.

In the middle of the living room, there was a huge Christmas tree. Caroline felt speechless when she saw it. "It's so beautiful..." She whispered and looked at Stefan. Stefan looked back at her and grinned widely. "Believe it or not, but Damon bought it." He said and looked at the tree again.
Caroline looked around in the living room, Elena and Bonnie were hanging up Christmas ornament in the tree, Damon sat next to Enzo on the couch, they were drinking bourbon. "Of course." Caroline whispered and smiled to herself. Tyler, Jeremy and Matt walked around and decorated the rest of the house.
When Bonnie and Elena saw Caroline they ran up to her, they wrapped their arms around each other into a group hug. But of course, they also noticed that something was bothering her. Caroline explained to them that she just felt disappointed because of Klaus. Bonnie and Elena did their best to comfort her, and she actually felt a little better. She was surrounded by her best friends, her family...there was no reason to be sad.

After a few hours they had finished all the decorating. They sat down on the couch in the living room, talking. All of them were happy, even Caroline. She finally got Klaus out of her mind. They continued to talk until it got late, then Bonnie and Jeremy left. Caroline decided that it was best if she left too, she had a lot to take care of tomorrow. So she said bye to all of her friends and walked out to her car.

When she got home she walked into the bedroom, she laid down on her bed and stared up at the ceiling. This day had been good, more than good. But she was tired, a yawn escaped from her lips. She closed her eyes and wrapped the cover around her body. The bed still felt empty, she had hoped that the left side would be occupied by now. The tiredness started to overwhelm her, it only took a few minutes until she drifted off to sleep.
