Chapter 5
On Thursday morning, I woke up to my alarm. I went to turn it off but someone beat me to it. I opened my eyes shocked and saw that Dylan was sleeping on top of the covers on my left side and Max was just getting up on my right. Dylan was by the alarm clock. He had put a pillow over his head trying to get away from the morning light. He didn't have a blanket. I couldn't help but stare as I noticed the sunlight hitting his tan skin on his back. His muscles were tensed as he held the pillow down. I found myself wanting to touch his muscles but I didn't. That probably would've creeped him out and honestly, I'm starting to creep myself out. I got up and got ready for school. I noticed that there were only bruises on his arms and face, but none on his back. That's weird. I thought as I grabbed my bag. "So you're not going to school?" I asked him.
"No." He said his voice muffled by the pillow. I laughed when he jumped. "S-shut up." He muttered embarrassed.
"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone." I said grinning when I stopped laughing. He rolled his eyes.
"I don't even remember coming up here." He said confused. I shrugged.
"I don't either." Max barked. "Alright, alright, I'm going to go and get you something to eat, geez." I said rolling my eyes. He jumped down off the bed and went on out the door. "Silly dog." I said shaking my head.
"Can I just hang out in your room?" He asked.
"I don't mind. Oh, and you're probably going to hate for this, but,"
"You told someone didn't you?" He asked sadly. I sighed.
"Yeah, my mom. I'm sorry. I just had to tell someone, but I made her promise not to tell anyone. I know she wouldn't go and tell anyone." I don't want him to be mad and upset with me. He sighed. "Are you mad at me?"
"No. She won't tell anyone will she?"
"She doesn't work during the day, so I would go ask her if I were you." He nodded. "She really cares about you, you know. When I told her about running into you, she asked how you were doing and stuff." He nodded. "I'm going down to eat, want to come with me?" He shook his head.
"I'm not hungry, but thanks." I nodded and when was at the stairs I sighed. He probably doesn't trust me anymore. I ate my breakfast after I fed Max and Mom took me to school.
"So he's not going?"
"No, he told me yesterday that he didn't want anyone to see him like that." She nodded. "I told him that I told you about it."
"Was he upset?"
"Yeah, he said he wasn't mad, but I don't know." She nodded.
"Well, I'll talk to him. I haven't told anyone, not even your father. Last night after you left, he asked me what I was talking about and I told him that I promised I wouldn't tell." I smiled. She sighed. "I hate doing this to him, but I'd hate myself more if I broke my promise with my little boy." I rolled my eyes. She laughed and kissed my cheek. "I'll see you after school."
"Okay." I got out of the car and was immediately bombarded with questions from Sam and the others. "We just went walking around and had some lunch at McDonald's."
"Okay, then what did you talk about, hm?" Alex asked suspiciously.
"Normal stuff, I guess." I said shrugging. I wasn't really sure what to tell them on that one.
"Thanks for elaborating." Bryan said rolling his eyes. I chuckled.
"I really don't know how to answer that." Sam laughed.
