One Unfortunate Day

Surviving Day One

Me and Ani collect some food from the canteen and some drinks from the venting machine. We found the key in the canteen so we grabbed as many drinks that we could find. We make it back to the infirmary after sneaking pass another two guys. They all were wearing normal clothes but they had masks on.

We knock on the infirmary door for one of our friends to unlock the door. Maha comes to unlock the door. "Thank goodness yall are alright!" Maha said softly when she opened the door.

"Heh...yea..." I say as I sit down to catch my breath. As always Ani looked perfectly fine as if she didn't even walk out the door. "Here's the food," I said, pointing to the bag on the floor.

"Is that all?" Heidi said as she walked towards us.

"Listen, we barely escaped with our lives!" I shouted at her as I stood up.

"Okay, okay enough you two," Ani said, trying to avoid conflict.

I glanced at Heidi as I went to check on Alexa. Maha and Ani were talking as Heidi took out some of the food. I slowly removed the cloth while telling Alexa what happened when me and Ani went out to get food. She would always beg for a story so, this time I had one for her.

"Okay, let's go have lunch," I said as I sat off the bed.

"Yipee! I'm starving!" Alexa squealed as she got off the bed. "Are there sausages?" she asked as we walked over to the group who already layed out some of the food.

"Sausages are mineee!" Ani shouted playfully as she grabbed the sausages in the small plastic bag.

"Aww man!" Alexa said hunching her back.

"Just kidding, here," Ani handed one small plastic bag that had two sausages in it.

"Thanks."

After we finished eating the room was silent. Once again I broke the silence. "Okay, no angels passing through. I need to state something important" I said then started laughing.

"An what is it 'leader'?" Heidi said, not even looking at me.

"Our food here isn't going to last. Maha, do you know any teacher that has a walky-talky or a radio?" I asked.

"Teacher Faizul has a walky-talky. He brought it just today for class," Maha replied.

"That's great! I'll try to find the teacher's phones to call the police." 

"So when do we leave 'fearless leader'" Heidi said trying to piss me off.

"I'll leave tomorrow with Maha. She knows where the teachers' belongings-" I said before being interrupted by Alexa.

"Hey, why is there a gun here?" Alexa pointed out while looking at the pouch I stole from the guy at the canteen.

"Ah, right I forgot. Maha that gun is for you to carry," I said as I turned my gaze to the pouch.

"Woah, ok. I'll bring it along tomorrow," she said as she walked towards the pouch.
