Andy povs

I wake up to the horrible sound of my alarm. I didn't sleep for really long last night : the stress is still there and I could say it's worse than it was when I got in bed. I think I was born anxious, but it's reaching an other level right now. I force myself to take deep breaths, well the deepest I can with my asthmatic lungs. I walk to the bathroom according to my room and splash freezing cold water on my face to totally wake me up. I then go to my closet and with shaky hands, I choose my outfit : a light pink t-shirt over a white long-sleeved turtle neck shirt, associated with a pair of black ripped jeans. I look at myself in the mirror, pass my fingers through my hair a few times. After that, my belly can't take it anymore, so I go downstairs for breakfast. My mom is making pancakes, which she always does the days of important events. I thank her for the fabulous meal and start eating whilst saying "yum" every two seconds. I'm used to eat two toasts with peanut butter on them, so it's a good change.

After the yummy breakfast, my mom kindly offers to drive me to school instead of taking the bus. She doesn't forget to specify it's only for today, but I'm grateful anyway. I enter the school under the several glances that people are throwing at me. I go to the principal's office to get my schedule, my locker number and my agenda. My first class of the day is English, a subject that I excel easily at. I walk to my locker, the number 333 pinned on it, which is my lucky number. Maybe the rest of this year isn't going tonge so bad after all...

-"Are you new here?" the sympathic face of the owner of the locker on my left (number 332) asks me while I place my things in mine.

-"Yes, I am. Do I look that lost?" I question him with a smile.

-"Yeah, but it's mostly because I've never seen you anywhere before."

-"Oh, I see. I'm Andy by the way." I say, putting my hand in front of me so he shakes it.

-"I'm Brook" he answers with a welcoming smile, before ignoring my hand to hug me instead. I smile at his cuteness.

-"So today's debate day! Nobody ever won against Rye, so we're counting on ya!" he says while chuckling.

I've never had debates before, so I hope I'm not too bad at them. Brooks informs me that the teacher takes two people and the winner debates until someone wins over him or her. Without any surprise, he's also telling me that Rye has been there since September, which is impressive, may I say. I'm wondering what he looks like...

We walk to our class, turned out our school schedule is almost the same. I don't have the time to look at my classmates properly before the bell rings and the teacher starts to speak :

-"Hello guys! Today's a special day, because not only it's debate day, but there's a new student! Andrew, would you like to say a word to the class?" she says while everyone's definetely starting at me. Ugh, here we go I guess.

-"Uh, sure. Hello, I'm Andrew Robert Fowler, but you can call me Andy. I moved here recently because my mom couldn't handle my father's death. Any question?" I say, kinda sassily at the end to hide the deep sadness I'm living in since he's gone. I'm not really expecting questions after that, only the pity stares. Nonetheless, someone raises his hand and I say:

-"Yeah, you?"

-"Hello, I'm Ryan Leonard Beaumont, everyone calls me Rye, but you call me Ryan. Are you gay?" he says with curiosity in his voice. His question makes me look at my painted nails, my pink shirt...

Oh. So this is Rye. Arrogant, good-looking... The perfect fuck boy... Great.

-"Actually, I'm bi. Any other question, Rye?" I reply as I see a little smile appearing on his face. Everyone is looking at the both of us like it's a super good movie. If they'd have pop Corn, it would totally be the end of me...

-"No, I'm done, fag." he says whilst I give him the finger. I look at Brook whose face telling I'd better stop arguing with him. Nonetheless, I haven't said my last word yet...

-"Enough guys! So, for today's debate, it's gonna be Rye, without any surprise, against... Andrew!"
I blink a few times, trying to take what she just said in. I already hate him, and now I've to be humiliated by him. I hope it's not gonna be a too hard subject.

-"So the theme of today's debate is : what's the most important thing in our society between love and money? Andy, because you're new, you can choose your position first."

-"Money" I say, without any hesitation. Rye smirks at me, so I guess he wanted to pick love, which is absurd because it's not realistic. I try to quickly find a way to start my argumentation.

-"So, Andy, you have thirty seconds."

-"Well, I think money is more important. I'd rather be single and rich than poor and taken. We need money to survive, even more in our society. I think it's dumb to believe that love, in every possible way, is more important. I know it's not fun to say and I'd rather say the opposite, but as well as I know, we don't live in a fairy tail." I say, giving the best I can.

-"Okay. Rye's turn."

-"Well, hum, I think we wouldn't be happy if love wasn't here. But I her your point, and you're right. Uh yeah, that's it..." Rye says, looking away of my surprised eyes. All the students are shocked.

I don't get it. Wasn't he supposed to be the king of debate? And now he just gives up the fight without saying any argument despite the fact that I clearly gave him open doors so he could talk back. I need to understand how he won over all the others and mostly why he didn't even try... Anyway, from now on, I'm gonna debate with a new student in the class until someone wins over me. I don't know if it's because of my ego, but I'm hella proud that I won. But there's something bothering me. Rye is looking so sad for some reason. I'm feeling weird seeing him like that. So, without really thinking it through, I walk to him and place my arms around his waist, causing his breath to hitch. After what seems an eternity because of my nervosity, he hugs me back, pulling me closer so our bodies touch. All of that's happening in front of the whole class. But when I look up to him, all my shiness disappears.

He's so beautiful.
