Chapter 19

Jax's POV

"This is it." Oliver speaks as we stand at the end of the driveway to his old house. The place is completely run down, I'm surprised that it is still standing at this point.

"Once you get inside, find the staircase to the basement. There will be another hidden staircase down there that'll take you to the cellar, but you can only get there with a key. You should find the key ring in the basement. Ari will be in the cellar. You can't open her cell with magic, use the key ring." He tells all of us.

"Why are you saying all of this? Aren't you coming with us?" I ask. Diego, Maddie, and Alex all look at him, too.

"Someone needs to stop Natalie. If she's still at Ariana's house, I'll find her. You guys can save Ari." Oliver states.

"She's dangerous, Oliver. She has Ari's and Emma's powers. She could kill you." Maddie brings up.

"I know." He gives a defeated smile before teleporting to Ari's house. I sigh and Maddie looks at me with worried eyes.

"I know we don't know that guy well, but I can't help but feel sorry for him." Alex says, looking back up at the house.

"He can fight Natalie off. I just don't know if he'll come out of it." I state. We start to walk up to the house, standing outside of the front door. I grip the handle and pull the door opening, a loud creaking sound coming from it. We all step inside, looking at our surroundings.

"This place gives me the creeps." Diego says, his voice echoing throughout the house.

"Let's find that staircase." Alex speaks as we all look around the first floor of the house. I run my hands across the walls, hoping to find a door. My fingers get caught in a crack and I dig them further in. I pull the door open, showing a staircase that leads to the cellar. Someone must've tried to camouflage the door.

"Guys, I found it." I turn around to see my friends, but there's no one around. What the hell? I look back at the staircase. I know that something is wrong, but I have to find Ari. I'm not leaving here without her.

I walk down the staircase, feeling like I might fall through it. Once I reach the bottom, I turn the corner, trying to think of where the key ring would be. I start to search when I hear footsteps behind me.

"Looking for this?" A guy around my age asks, turning the key ring around one of his fingers. This isn't just any guy, this is the guy that was taking advantage of my fiancé.

"You piece of shit." I cast a spell at him, not allowing him to move from where he is. My fist come in contact with his face, sending him onto the ground. I hit him multiple times, drawing blood from his nose and mouth. He's become unconscious at this point, his eyes basically swollen shut. I take the key ring from his hand, going to look for the next hidden door.

Ariana's POV

"Looks like you've got some company." Natalie wakes me up from my sleep, throwing Maddie, Diego, and Alex in my cell with me. She's now back in her own form, something I wasn't sure if I'd ever see, again.

"Ari, what have they done to you?" Alex sits down next to me, brushing my hair out of my face. I wince at the contact and he backs off.

"Sorry, I just-"

"Oh my god, who gave you those bruises?" Maddie asks, staring at my face.

"Let us go, Natalie." Diego demands.

"C'mon, what's the fun in that? We're about to have another guest." Just as she speaks, I hear someone coming down the stairs. As soon as their feet hit the ground, Natalie casts a spell that send them to the wall, pinning them up against it.
