The Perks of being Ava ~ A Charlie Jones Fanfiction

Chapter 1 // The day it all changed

It was my maths lesson at school and I was struggling to understand anything, as per usual, so I kept having to ask the teacher for help all the time. I hated maths and would do anything to try and get out of it until one day when the teacher announced that there would be a new student in my class called Charlie. I'd always liked the name Charlie so you were curious to find out what he was like. A tall blonde haired boy walked into the room and all the girls went a bit pink cheeked and giggled to each other, me included. I looked over to my best friend and she winked at me, she knew I really liked him.

I started to daydream whilst staring right at him thinking about how attractive he was, I really thought he was fit. My daydream was suddenly interrupted by my teacher saying " Ava there's a space next to you, do u mind if Charlie sits there for now?" I looked around to see everyone staring at me waiting for me to reply. I said shyly "okay sure", I was so embarrassed and could feel my cheeks going bright red and my whole body was increasing in temperature, I thought I had completely blown any chance of being with this boy.

He walked over to my desk and sat down in the chair to my left. I kept my head down and tried to do my work but I got interrupted by a voice saying " hey, I'm Charlie" I quickly looked up and turned my head to see him staring at me waiting for me to say something. "Um h-hey I'm Ava" I said stuttering. The conversation came to a stand still as sir told us all that he was going to go through the answers with us, this was usually the worst part of the lesson when I find out I've got every question wrong. Today was the same as every other day, I got 2/10 and I looked annoyed. I looked over at Charlie's work and saw he got 10/10, he was really smart unlike me. We were then told that we would have a test next week and I was already dreading it.

We were about to get ready to leave the lesson when sir called Charlie up to the front to speak to him in private. "Would you consider tutoring Ava because she's been struggling with her maths lately and you're the top student in this class?", he said to him. Charlie was delighted at the idea and replied instantly saying "Yes, of course I will". I looked over at them while they were talking and could see Charlie looking at me, I wondered if it was about me. Once they had finished talking sir called me up and asked me if I wanted Charlie to tutor me to help me get a good grade on the test. I was so happy when he said this and couldn't believe that someone like Charlie would want to try and tutor me. Once sir had finished discussing with us we got our bags and walked out of lesson at the end of the day.

I was stood outside the building waiting for my friends to meet me so we could walk home together when someone tapped me on the shoulder, I quickly turned around to see Charlie stood there with a big smile on his face. "Hey, can we talk about tutoring days Ava?" he asked, "um yeh sure I can do tomorrow if you want?" I said quietly. "Okay sure, you can come to mine after school" he said quite confidently looking right at me, "Okay thanks I'll see you tomorrow then", "See you later Ava".
