Your parents greet you as you walk in the still unfamiliar house. You greet them back and walk to the kitchen.

"So how was town?" Your dad asks as you set down your plant on the dark wood table.

"I liked it, I went and got me a succulent at a plant store and the owners were very kind. I also got me a coffee." You replied walking to the stove and starting the tea kettle.

Your mom closed the book she had been reading while she was sitting on the couch "Were there any shopping places around? I need to get some food here soon." She said looking at you.

"I think there was one further up the road from the plant store" you replied.

She nodded then sent back to reading. Your dad started making dinner which was Alfredo chicken. They way it smelled reminded you of something.

(Flashback)

You run out of the kitchen with two popsicles in your hand and hand one to the boy your age sitting on the trampoline.

He took it and started eating it and you both stared at the trees in the distance.

"Maybe one day we will be as tall as those trees" the boy said and you giggled.

"I don't think so, my momma isn't and she is even taller than my dad!" You said after you laughed a little.

"One day, you never know (Y/n)......"

(Flashback end)

You came back to earth after hearing the screeching of the tea kettle. You rushed to the kitchen as your dad took it off the burner.

"What type are you having this time?" Your dad asked.

"Probably sleepytime, I think I will need the extra help sleeping tonight." You said as you put the teabag in the cip and poured the boiling water in.

You waited for a minute or two before stirring the teabag around and then taking it out and throwing it away. You added a spoonful of honey and then headed up to your room.

Upon entering your room you realized you forgot your plant. You set the tea cup on the windowsill where your window seat was and went back downstairs.

You grabbed your plant and your dad mentioned something about getting a cat but your mom disagreed.

You stopped for a second and thought for a minute.

"I want a frog!!" You said excitedly as you stared at the pot in your hand with the haworthia in it.

Your parents looked at each other and then back at you. "We'll think about it..."

They had weird looks on their faces and you knew why. You had hated frogs basically your whole childhood, but you figured they weren't all that bad after spending hours looking at frog memes and the discovery of the froggy chair.

You smiled at them as you walked back up to your room and sat down on the window seat. You placed your plant on the windowsill too and picked up your tea.

You thought about the events that happened today. The coffee at that shop was really good but tasted different from the coffee in Italy. It made you upset but this whole move was about trying something new.

The plant shop owners were very kind and you could see yourself becoming friends with them or at least getting to know them better. They also had a very nice selection of plants.

And then there was Robin. You wondered if you had made a  friend or not. You figured you didn't but at least you have an acquaintance.

You really didn't care about making friends and you figured it would be better if you stayed alone but a part of you still wanted to make some.

For now though you just wanted to get familiar with everything that was around you. It was very different. But it was comforting in a way.

You looked around your room. It felt like it was missing something. Maybe more plants, or string lights, or posters. It just felt more empty.

"Dinners ready!!" You heard your mom say as she knocked on your door. She opened the door slightly and looked at you.

You had fallen asleep, you don't remember falling asleep but you did, you think at least.

"Good morning sleepyhead" your mom said sarcastically. "It's dinner time, up and at em" she said clapping her hands cheerfully before leaving.

You could hear her walking downstairs. You sat up, still tired. The cushions on your window seat didn't make you sore this time so that was good.

The cup you had was still a quarter of the way filled with tea but it was cold now and looked like it had a little bit of dust floating on the top.

You took the cup downstairs with you and set it in the sink. You washed your hands as well before sitting down at the table.

"Oh, we invited one of our neighbors over for lunch tomorrow. They have a child about your age." Your mom said cheerfully. Your dad looked away, he didn't like having people over because he was more of a peaceful guy.

You thought about who it could be then uou remembered that Robin said his house was a couple houses down from yours.

You felt it would be a little akward to have him over but your mom loved inviting people over for lunch, so there was no helping your situation.

You smiled, "that sounds good, I will probably dust the place before though."

You finished the last bite of your food and excused yourself from the table. You rinsed off your plate and put it in the dishwasher before walking back to your room.

You walked to your phone and turned on some music and swayed to it while getting ready for bed. You got into some pajama pants that had the print of an old map on it and a hoodie.

Suddenly you heard the familiar upbeat tune of a song you enjoyed. Your swaying turned into jumping and sliding, as you loudly sang along.

"What a time to be alive..."
