She approached her doorstep with trepidation. It's her home of course, but it never felt like that. Her father always made sure she had everything she needed or wanted, although he can never bring Lorraine back for her or for himself. The only thing that allowed him to keep his head on straight was a purpose, one to make sure that her sacrifice will not be in vain.

Maxine felt as if monsters don't deserve a home. Because, she is of course as the priest said a monster, who else would have the guts to paint a cathedrals floors crimson with the blood of a priest?

The dark figure watched from a distance as she imagined putting on a mask of happiness and normalcy, she even emitted the epitome of normality and happiness, well the human versions of it. He was amazed by how she can slip into another skin so naturally.

That's when he knew she would be perfect with some training of course. Becoming a true daughter of darkness is not something you're just born into, it's something you become, something you embrace.

With a wide smile, she opened the front door expecting her father to rush her and shoot questions about her appointment left and right. Silence, complete and utter silence. It was astonishing there was never a quiet moment within the confines of this house. Her father hated silence because it reminded him of how truly alone he was without his beloved wife.

Maxine knew that either he went out or something went terribly wrong. She rushed into the kitchen first. He can almost always be found there due to him and his past wife cooking and baking in there every day.

It was empty, it didn't even look like its been disturbed since yesterday evening. In a panic she ran across the whole house, only to find him sleeping soundly in his bedroom. His phone on the nightstand showed that he'd missed five alarms and he also had some texts. Maxine turned off his phone so that his sleep will not be interrupted.

She went back downstairs and had pop tarts for dinner, since her mother's death, Maxine hasn't been able to bring herself to be able to cook or bake anything. It was what they did as a family together and it felt wrong to do so without her.

After watching so intently, the son of Darkness knew that it would take a lot of work to make her a daughter of Darkness. It will be difficult, especially because of her being a half-ling. The first half-ling at that, so there should at least be an interesting turn of events.

Colt had found the last millennia or so increasingly uninteresting and boring. Colt used subtle dark magic so there was no chance of her being alerted to his presence and snuck inside of the sleeping house. He wasn't worried about her father because he used a magical roofie on him earlier. He bewitched the TV so that when he turns it on, it'll be at full volume. He gets relaxed on the off-white couch, even unbuttoning the top two buttons of his dress shirt. This, of course, was all a rouse.

His muscles and body language screamed serenity but pure rage flowed through his veins. Rule number one, in order for a magical creature who didn't grow up in magic to believe in it is to piss them off enough till the energy explodes out of them. Rule number two, the best most effective way to piss someone off, is to be pissed off yourself. Those are the two rules Colt decided to follow during this session.

With one click of a button, a cleaning detergent commercial blared throughout the house. While, Maxine dropped a half-eaten pop tart on the floor Colt remained unfazed.

A dozen things went through Maxine's head and all of them were far from the bizarre truth. She went out with a frying pan in her hands, hoping that it was just her father and to see that it was a stranger instead, casually flipping through the channels baffled her. Freezing Maxine in place.
