HARRY POTTER AWOKE FROM HIS NIGHTMARE. It was starting to become less of a nightmare and more of a slideshow of the cruel events that happened during the war. He woke up every morning at six to do his assigned chores, but now instead of grudgingly getting up, he awoke with rigid breaths and sweat tracing the side of his face, from his temples to crook of his neck. He squirmed after his glasses catching his breath as he placed back on his head. His malnourished body slipped off the cold bed and onto the creaking-wood floors. He stepped lightly across -not a problem saying his size- careful not to wake his guardians and cousin. Those wretched guardians, Harry cursed softly at 'guardians'. They were doing nothing protective for him, save for shelter.

Today he thought he may crack. Looking at the schedule his aunt Petunia so kindly made for him. It was triple the size of his usual one and carried the tasks he was worst at. 'A special one for my birthday' his head pondered. He sighed and got ready. Putting on casual jeans and a very baggy T-shirt. The only reason the jeans didn't resemble the shirt's bagginess was because it was a gift from Ron... he'd received it only yesterday, with a note saying it larges or shrinks to the side of the wearer. He left his room, one of his hands in the pockets and the other scrunching the list as much as he could without the ink becoming unreadable. He looked back into his clean room. It wasn't usually clean. One less chore for him... and his suitcase was packed ready for Hogwarts in a few days. A chill kissed the bone on the back of his neck. Why'd he feel as if he'd be using that very suitcase in just a bit?

~

The chill had been right. Is was nearing dusk and here Harry was crying in a playground from the bruises that splattered against his skin, his suitcase nearby. He'd thought Dudley had gotten better, but only a few minutes prior the boy had beaten him to a pulp while Dudley's friends insulted him and then dropped his suitcase to the ground. They'd left only because of the time and believe it or not the group of bullies had curfew to attend. He heard crunching leaves but believed it to be the wind, still out of paranoia he softened his sobs and buried his face into his legs tying them up with his arm, binding himself into a compound ball. The crunches grew louder as if something was walking nearer to him. He felt a warm tendril wrap around him. He lifted his head to meet dazzling sliver eyes. Harry realised straight away who they belonged to. Draco Malfoy. His hair wasn't glazed back as it usually was, instead he sported a more relaxed style. 'It must be soft' Harry thought curiously, then mentally slapped himself for thinking so.

"M-Malfoy... why are you here...? Comforting me no less?" Harry mumbled the last of his tears streaked down his face.

"First of all Harry" Draco emphasised Harry's first name. "I'm here because I left my household... and saying there's no stops for the knight bus there... here was closest and I sort-of just apparated to this place... and found you crying." Draco placed a hand on Harry's chin forcing the smaller boy to look at him. "I-I've... never hated you Harry... M-My father said to" Draco said softly.

"T-Thanks Ma—Draco" Harry thanked, correcting himself. Draco pulled the smaller boy into his arms, hugging him. The two boys sat in that gentle embrace until Draco pulled away to ask something.

"Harry. Why were you crying here?" Draco asked brushing his thumb back and forth across Harry's cheek. Harry, oddly, didn't mind the touch. Harry stared at the ground wondering how to approach this subject. He looked back up at his former enemy, his usually fierce eyes were gentle, and concern graced across them.

"M-My cousin beat me, placing bruises" -he lowered one side of his shirt exposing his shoulder and a bruise on his collar bone- "across my body, and then threw my suitcase... I guess you could say I left my household too." Harry said chuckling near the end to try and lighten the mood. Draco nodded understanding Harry's situation, then his eyes widened as the sudden realisation sunk in.

"I-I'm sorry, no wonder you looked so murderous when I said..." He shook his head as he recalled the memory. "That you must've been treated like a king in that muggles home... are your guardians any better?" Draco said gently as he gulped his way through the sentence.

"They're not that physically abusive... b-but they are verbally... shouting insults at me... a-about my parents..." Harry choked. "I-I'm like their slave. I work from 6am to midnight... usually... but today I got let out early for...."

"What?" Draco wondered

"I-It's my birthday..." Harry said he stared at the ground. Would he think him weird for crying on his birthday?

"WHAT?!" Draco exclaimed, he stood up and reached a pale hand down to help Harry do the same. "This is your special day! --" he said he hand still extended down to the smaller boy. "—and~ we're going to make it special!" he smiled at his hopefully new friend.

Harry smiled straight back at him 'He's really cute when he's all excited' this time he didn't reprimand himself. A faint blush tainted Harry's tan skin as he accepted Draco's hand and was effortlessly pulled to his feet. Draco didn't let go of Harry as he sped off.

Harry sat in the sand at the beach Draco had apparated to. Prior to coming to see the crimson sunset, they'd gotten ice-cream, cotton-candy... basically anything Harry wanted... that was food, then Draco had apparated them to this beach. The two boys sat cuddled in the soft sand, Harry sat in Draco's lap as they both found this most comfortable. Harry broke the soft silence that they sat in, listening to the waves.

"Thank you, Draco... this is the best birthday I've ever had" Harry said, and he meant every word.

"No problem, you deserved it" Draco said. "Hey Harry..." Draco turned the boy around to face him. "I've really enjoyed this and..." Draco stopped.

"Drake..." Harry murmured whilst stroking Draco's cheek.

"I-I... l-like... you" Draco stared at the sand beside him... he couldn't look at Harry's face.

Draco felt calloused fingers tilt his face towards Harry. Harry kissed Draco whilst positioning himself to straddle Draco. The two sat on the warm sand intertwined for the most loving moments of the two's life. Harry stared straight into Draco's diamond eyes.

"I like you too" Harry chuckled

"Well then..." Draco started, accessing the risks and rewards, "Harry Potter will you be my beloved boyfriend?"

Harry pecked Draco's lips at this and then whispered,

"Yes. Yes, I will"

The two kissed lovingly and full of passion. Harry turned to the still setting sun, Draco cuddled him and chuckled,

"Well then, love, we've got a bus to catch."
