I awoke to the cawing of the crow that had landed on the window ledge. Ugggghhhhh. Today was the drawing of the tributes. It took me great effort, but I swung out of bed and slipped on black skinny jeans, my trademark Converse, and a black t-shirt. It was my duty to awake the initiates and report to Tobias. After I had banged on the metal door of the initiates' room, I marched down to the Pit.
Tobias and Eric, another trainer, were already waiting for me. I pulled on my ponytail and motioned for them to start talking.
"Now, as you both know, we are all going to be participating in the games. Whether we get chosen or not, the number of trainers will go down." Eric stated.
I tugged on my lip ring with my teeth, something I did when I was nervous. The number of trainers had gone down steadily ever since the games had started. Most trainers were demigods, ruthless and talented. Tobias was a son of Hermes, funnily enough though he wasn't proud, and Eric was a son of Ares, god of war.
"And if all three of us are chosen, at one point we must face each other," Tobias stated, saying exactly what was on my mind.
I knew for a fact that Tobias and Eric were both stronger than me, but I was smaller, faster. Having that advantage, I could easily climb trees, and outrun the competition. I tried not to think about it but Tobias was like a brother to me and I didn't want Eric to get killed off either.
I tried to smile. "We could always build up an alliance," I said.
"True, but we are the most powerful in Dauntless and you are the only other child of Poseidon. People are going to be targeting us first, no matter how weak we portray ourselves," Eric pointed out.
