Creating characters is the second most important rule of writing next to understanding the genres. Characters play a vital role in our books and their decisions and choices lead to the in denying climax of the book. Some novels don't focus on the characters, but that's okay. Whereas the ones which focus on the characters, they are not well in developing their characters.

Instead of creating a clichè MC who bites her lips every second, creating a male character who is a bad boy and falls in love with a good girl, or a villain who wastes half of the time in laughing and saying evil dialogues, I will teach you to create much better characters for your books.

1#Creating the Male Protagonist.
Male characters are often not seen in much books, but their presence often makes the book more interesting. Male characters may vary depend on the genre which you are writing because a male's mind is somewhat different from a female's mind. Female characters, or the female protagonists, are often seen as the same throughout many books. They usually don't have anything new to offer. Most of the female protagonists have the same thoughts and the same perspective.

                     HUMOUR/COMEDY.
_____________________________________________

As I said before, creating a male character depends on the type of genre which you are writing. If you are writing humour, then your male protagonist must have a good and a craving sense of humour. He must have thoughts and ideas which may crack us up at any moment, take sarcastic thoughts as an example. He must not let us get bored with him, and he must have a different and fast-paced personality. You may add some pathetic problems with him, which may be relating to his body, his job or to his family. Puberty is a big example and social awkwardness is another big example.

            MYSTERY/THRILLER HERO.
_____________________________________________
If you are writing a mystery/thriller book, then it is your choice to either make the male character a protagonist or an antagonist. For a protagonist, create your male character in such a way that everyone is attracted to him. A striking magnetism or a charisma may be born by his serious and grave attitude. Always make him suspicious of everything, even if someone in front of him stammers while talking, bloom a rousing suspicion in his heart about the stammering person. Create his mind intelligent; intelligent enough that where everyone is focusing on the main point of the mystery, he tilts the mystery upside down and then tries to make a conclusion. Intelligent enough so that he can even focus on the most minor of the details.

          MYSTERY/THRILLER VILLIAN.
_____________________________________________
For an antagonist in a mystery/thriller novel, create the antagonist in such a way that they already have plans to make the hero's/heroine's/protagonist's life harder. They already have plans that if the hero makes another smart move, they will bring their evil scheme or an evil idea into action. Take the example of a hero searching a building where the antagonist has murdered many people. The villain has already set a timer bomb there so that if the hero ever shows up, then he will be blown once the bomb explodes. I told you that create your male protagonist intelligent and clever, but make your villain even CLEVERER. Hide your villain in plain sight by making them as a soft and a comforting person when they are around people, so no-one could suspect them.

                            ROMANCE.
_____________________________________________
For creating a male protagonist in a romance novel, give him a reason: Why does he feel attracted to the girl he loves? Maybe it's because she has gorgeous eyes. Beautiful silky hair. A perfectly shaped body. It's not love, it's lust. Or maybe it's because she has a strong and a naughty personality? It's not love, it's admiration. Or maybe because she has many skills, and she always comes handy whenever a person needs her help? It's not love, it's basically using her. Give your male character a solid reason to love her. Shower immense love in his heart for the girl. Give him a reason to love her... Maybe it's because he feels comfortable around her or maybe it's because she has ALL of those above-listed personalities. Your male character doesn't want a girl who has only one of those qualities from the above, but a combo!

                                HORROR.
_____________________________________________

If you want to create a male protagonist in a horror book, then make them resourceful. No-one likes a man who can't be resourceful, or who doesn't know how to handle a pretty tough situation. Give them survival skills. Get a handy bloodshedding weapon in their hands {An Axe or a Saw would do} so that they can tear through the swarming mass of zombies or any other terror which awaits them. Make their personality strong, charismatic and DAMN SERIOUS! Give them a dark past, or a dark future, or a dark present, it's up to you.

                               ACTION.
_____________________________________________

If you want to create a male character in an action book, then make them strong. Give them body which pulses with muscles, and give them attractive physical features like smooth wavy hair or an attractive jawline. They must have leadership qualities which most of the men have. As masculinity comprises leadership, leaders have to take everything in control. They must always have a plan to defeat the evil villain. They must have tricks and ways to save the world... Or themselves.
