THREE WEEKS LATER
Sofia chirped merrily as she examined the horses when a voice she dreaded filled the air. Suddenly, the bright sun shining outside the barn didn't seem to be shining so much anymore.
"Good morning, Sofia" he said leisurely standing there with a smile on his face as if he hadn't tried to abuse her just over a month ago.
Respect had forced her to turn around and look at his despicable face. "Greetings sir" she spoke formally with no hint of emotion on her face. "What can I do for you?" she asked coldly, her voice probably freezing the entire Mexican soil in a second.
"Why the cold tone Sofia. I thought we were friends now." he said still with that stupid grin and she had to tighten her fists to stop herself from punching the man. Nothing could stop the glare forming on her face, though.
When she didn't answer, he continued.
"I believe we haven't finished our conversation from a few weeks ago, isn't that right, mi Sofia?", he said and she suddenly felt uneasiness crawl up her spine, remembering their last conversation.
"I have knowledge of no such conversation, sir." She replied cooly, determined to maintain her composure. She needed to be strong for her family, she chided herself.
"Then perhaps, I should remind you" he muttered lowly while trying to close the distance between them and finally gripping her hand forcefully.
"Sir, what are you doing?" she stated trying to reach for the scalpel in her dissecting set with her other hand.
Before he could do anything further, the high pitched voice of Vivian sounded in the room and Sofia never thought she would see the day she would be happy to see this woman.
"What's going on here, Alfonso?"
With a curse, Alfonso released her hand, why was the annoying Vivian here when he had made sure no one came to this part of the ranch while they finished their conversation. It seems like she was forgetting who was the boss here and needed a little reminder.
Sofia immediately took her bag pack and was about to get out of there to the other end of the ranch, when she heard Vivian's call. With a short prayer, she turned around to see the woman sending her the most murderous glare ever. If looks could kill, she would most probably be dead by now.
"So the italian boy is not enough for you, that you have to start sniffing around other people's men now? I Always knew you were such a bitch." she spat murderously at Sofia.
"Señorita, I am truly sorry if you misunderstood what you saw. I am sure Señor Alfonso will be more than happy to explain it to you. As for me, I have a lot of work left, so would you please excuse me."
"Where do you think you are going, you bitch come back here. I'm not done with you."she spat again. Seriously, doesn't she know how to speak calmly?
"Let her go, you heard her, she has alot of work." This time it was Alfonso who spoke, with a sinister glint in his eyes that told me this was not over.
Sofia turned around and walked away but the inevitable thought plagued her mind. What if she couldn't escape him next time? The thought alone made her shiver in disgust. She tested her luck one too many times. Her original plan had been to save enough money to be able to open up her own vetenary cabinet with attached pet shop and this was the most high paying job at the moment.
Looks like she'll have to accept the job at the Laurelle&co vetenary cabinet in town, which was the most prestigious cabinet in mexico city and around the world.
