The story of a tyrant ruler, and in which his mind came to be.
The kingdom of Lotus was in ruin. The people were poor and because of a drought, famine reached all across the kingdom. The king and queen had no idea in what to do. They loved their kingdom, but they couldn't do much, and they were in pain because of it. No amount of decree could fix the weather patterns, so they prayed every day for the rain to come, all while their people continued to hate their rulers due to their suffering.
An era was awoken with the birth of Aine, the beautiful baby with from love even in the suffering. After years of not being able to produce a child, Aine was the blessing that the entire kingdom had been wishing for. He would be the hope that the people needed.
The kingdom viewed Aine as their savior, and was the poster for hope all throughout the kingdom. But deep in the castle, as the royals grew concerned with how the little boy really behaved. He didn't talk much and had a negative attitude to everything, and when he did talk, is was disorganized. He talked to himself a lot, and what some believed to do a really big imagination, showed darker sides.
As he grew older, the king and queen attempted to hide his odd behavior, refusing to see doctors despite the maid's concerns. His twitching, incompatibility  to sleep or eat was just another palace secret. But as the boy grew older, he notice he was different from everybody else.
He couldn't keep the voices out of his head, he couldn't stop himself from the impulses that came quick to his head. He'd pull the maids hair because of  quick thought that snapped in his head. It was like a demon was perching itself on his shoulder, telling him not to wake up, to trip the maids,  hurt himself. He realized that he wasn't normal, and that his parents began to fear him.
King Julius and his wife only wanted a boy to grow up and raise the kingdom, the the dark secret was haunting them. They just wanted their boy to be a good ruler. They were quick to conform him. Classes upon classes, straining him. They believed if he could balance a book on his head that he wouldn't have those dark thoughts. But it never helped. Aine became a robot, and because of manipulative teachers he learned to never trust anyone. He felt so terribly alone, and the voices would never let him rest.
The king and Queen were restless, the kingdom wasn't getting better, and they couldn't cope with the stress of their son. The kingdom was still in ruin and they were up in arms. Julius set Aine aside one day.
"One day this kingdom will be all yours. And with your help we can save this kingdom." He pulled his closer and grabbed hold of his face. "Whatever you do you are king first. Your power reigns over all. Never forget the burden of a king. You must obey your subjects."
But Aine would never know what this meant until the day he say the corpses of his parents being carried away. The public would forever know it as a poisoning. But Aine knew the truth. They died holding him, both drinking the poison, a suicide pact that would forever rot in secrecy. Aine wasn't able to react. He couldn't properly cope with it.
The voices grew louder in his head, taking form of his parents, and he would turn rooms upside down in fits. And just like that, a fifteen year old ruler became king of the lotus kingdom. The people were upset at such a young ruler and riots broke out every where.
Aine was never so alone. He spent hours in his room alone, not allowing anyone to see him. He would ruin his bed, throw his food around and just scream. He had always felt lonely, but now he felt the entire world against him. But then he realized the solace of his existence. The power he held. He could do anything, hurt anyone, and it never matter because he was king. That power, the power that his father had given him, was the only thing he had.
He dove into his work, doing the kings every king would do. And he almost seemed normal. But the palace knew best. He wasn't normal, not by a long shot. He was doing what he thought he should be. Like that programmed robot.
Which is why when the treaty of Balloce came into picture, peace was never attainable. They country was at odds for years regarding their trades and navy battles. So obviously, signing a peace treaty and then doing a surprise attack was the best option. Most people were in agreement for the war, thinking it would better the country, but the wars were brutal. And the king showed no mercy, for he had none to begin with. He couldn't concept the idea of what death meant to people, so slaughtering the entire country was easy for him to do.
The kingdom knew distant from their ruler who slaughtered so many. They began to grow hate and King Aine felt no empathy for it. He was doing as told. As the voices told him to do.  He was an empty shell. He was broken, and only doing as told, even at the price of his sanity.
