"don't give up that easily, i can feel like you're really close to your soulmate kai." roshaun says with a smirk on his face.
i kick him from under the table. i shoot him a glare. so he's getting bold bold huh?
"it's a lost cause. i give up for now." kai says, looking at me with a discouraged look on his little face.
that's it, even if i already know we have the same mark, i don't want him to be this sad about this.
"that's it, come on, we'll go ask around together." i say grabbing his hand and dragging him out of the lunchroom before he can disagree.
"but-" kai begins but i interrupt, "no buts." i say quickly.
i lead him down the hall.

mattia drags me out of the lunchroom by dragging me while holding my band. not gonna lie, it made a little spark go off. i ignore it.
he brings me down the hall and finally lets go of my hand. "come on, i know girls hang around outside, let's go ask." he says gesturing me to come along.
"i don't think i shou-" he interrupts me, "it wasn't a choice, let's go." he says grabbing my wrist.

we're sitting on one of the stone benches outside now.
girls outside didn't have the same scar either. maybe i just don't have a soulmate.
there's plenty of cases were people don't have a matching scar, i hope i'm not one of them.
"mattia?" i say catching his attention.
"hm." he hums in response. "i'm scared, what if i don't actually have a lover, what if we're just wasting time?" i start rambling.
"sh just sh, you'll find them. like roshaun said, i can feel they're really close." he says pulling me into a side hug.
my mind is racing. what does he mean 'really close'? does mattia or roshaun know who my soulmate is?
i know maiya knows but she refuses to tell me.
i would bribe her, but i don't feel like it.
"what do you mean?" i ask resting my head on his shoulder. "i'm sure you'll figure it out." he answers ruffling my hair.
i swat away his hand and laugh. "hey kai, can i come over later?" he asks me.
"probably, why though?" i ask him.
"i don't wanna go home and do chores today." he answer laughing. "whatever, you can." i say standing up.
"race you to 3rd period?" i ask grabbing my phone off the bench.
"bet." mattia says zoomin off. "hey! that's not fair!" i yell chasing behind him.
he just laughs and runs faster..

i'm so glad the day is over. most of my day has been shitty, but there's been some good parts.
mattia was mouthing off about something and i'm not really listening.
"kai, kai, kaiRi?" mattia says playfully punching my shoulder. "what?" i ask as we walk back towards my house.
"were you even listening?"
