You bowed your head lowly, eyes shut tight as apologies endlessly streamed through your parted lips. Your fingers gripped at the stack of papers in your hands, wrinkling the ends of it. It doesn’t matter if I ruin it, you thought, the proposal was rejected. Today was my last chance to have it approved.

The man standing in front of you is a higher ranking executive at a sister company that Ensemble Square was pushing a partnership with. You accepted the assignment in high spirits after Eichi proposed the job to you but was ultimately left in bitter defeat when the initial proposal continued to receive the company’s disapproval despite countless revisions. He sighed, disappointment laced in his voice as he spoke.

“Tenshouin spoke of you in high regards so I expected much more than that amateur proposal.”

“I’m sorry…”

“For now we’ll be going with the other agency’s proposed plans, I’m sorry. May this be a lesson to you in the future, you’re not a student anymore. You have a great responsibility both as an adult and as a producer, it’s time for you to realize that.”

Leaving you with much to ponder, he turned on his heel and walked away after giving you a  heavy pat on the shoulder which did little to ease the burden in your heart.

“____-chin are you alright..? You look a little pale.” Nazuna peered at you worriedly, pausing the movie so he could shift in his seat on the couch to look at you properly. “Have you been eating properly? You look like you’ve been lacking sleep too.”

“I’m fine.” You managed to say though a little gloomier than you’d intended it to be. “Let’s continue watching the movie? It’s just getting to the good part after all and-"

"Don’t lie to me.” Nazuna interrupted, cupping your cheek with his petite hand. “I can tell when you’re not alright okay? I’m your boyfriend after all. Rely on me more will you?” He said, trying to make himself bigger by puffing his chest out in pride despite the blush that crept to his cheeks despite his best effort not to.

In a single moment it felt as though everything suddenly came crashing down on you, the countless sleepless nights, the lack of appetite from all the stress and anxiety and the deep pain in your chest whenever you had to report to Eichi about another rejection. Tears pooled at the corner of your eyes and with Nazuna’s warmth seeping from his hand it didn’t take long for you to eventually seek comfort in his arms, leaning your head against his shoulder as he slowly wrapped his arms around your waist.

“There there…Things will be alright okay..?” He murmured, pressing his lips against the top of your head as he comfortingly stroked your hair. “I’m here now so you don’t have to bottle it all up.” Petite hands slowly cradled your cheeks to make you face him and despite the tears blurring your vision Nazuna’s smile still radiates warmly and as brightly as it always did. A soft peck on your nose makes you smile and earns you a chuckle from Nazuna himself as he wipes your tears away with the pad of his thumbs.

“If you want to talk about it I’m here to listen okay?”
