I walk down the hallway to my new school, scared at what people will say, what they will think. They probably thought that I was obsessed with Halloween or something. I brush my blue bangs out of my face, trying to just keep my head down and get to my locker. But, with my luck, I couldn't.

"Hey freak! You know Halloween isn't until October, right?"

I look up into the hating eyes of a tall, lengthy boy with bright yellow hair. His face was contorted into an agonizing sneer. I look back down, trying to move past this obvious bully, but he put his arm out to block me.

"So, are ya a boy, or are ya a girl? Your clothes scream boy, but the pigtails tell me you're a girl."

I don't respond. I've learned that you never talk back to a bully. Some may get even more pissed at this, others grow bored and just leave. Again, I wasn't lucky.

The boy punched me in the gut, causing me to fall over. He sat on my chest, punching me on the prosthetic. I heard and felt my nose crack as blood spilled over my face. Suddenly, blondie was ripped off me. I look up to see a small group of kids surround the bully, yelling at him. The bully said something, which caused the head of the group to punch the bully in the face.

Blondie ran off as my world turned black.

I was wondering around a field, barely being able to see through my one eye. I wonder around until I find my self at an apparent grave. There was a deep hole dug out and there was a gravestone at one end of the hole. I look down into it, shocked to see a coffin but it was open and there was no corpse. I look around, scared. I suddenly feel something cold and almost rubber touch my shoulders.

I turn and see my mom, her eyes were blood-shot, her hair was covered in dirt and so was her once pale skin. Her brown dress was torn and dirty. Her throat was red and bloated. It was still leaking blood. She opened her mouth, causing dirt to spill out of it.

"This is your fault.... if it weren't for you, I'd still be alive...."

Then she screamed. It was high pitched and it hurt my head.

I sit up, gasping for my breath as tears poured down my face. I look around to see I was in a bathroom, surrounded by the group of kids that saved me from the bully. I felt my face, relieved to feel that my prosthetic was still there. I look at each kid. The head of them was a tall, lengthy, tan boy that had long brown hair, a mole under his right eye, and a gap in his teeth. Another boy had short, red, curly hair, glasses, and had pale skin. Another boy had short green hair and he was chunky. There was a girl that had long brown hair, a choker, and she was really skinny. The other girl had caramel skin, tan short hair, and overall looked emo.

I pull my legs closer to my chest, feeling awkward. The brown-hair girl was the first one who noticed that I woke back up.

"Hey guys! Sleeping beauty is up!" She shouted, causing everyone to look up from what they were doing.

I shuffled, uncomfortable being called Sleeping beauty because for one, I am not a girl, and two, I'm beyond not beautiful.

"Glad to see you're okay man." The head of the group said, surprising me by his deep voice. His eyes were a honey brown color and they were filled with empathy.

"My name is Larry. The red-headed nerd is Todd-"he said pointing to the boy with glasses. "- this is Ashley, but everyone calls her Ash-"he pointed to the girl who called me Sleeping beauty. "- Chug is the guy with green hair and Maple is the girl beside him" he pointed to the last two kids as he said their names.

"What's your name?" Ash asked, curious. I doubt anyone even knew my gender.

"..." I sat there, refusing to talk. I looked everywhere except for the group in front of me. Larry sighed.

"I'm guessing all these people that you don't really know is making you uncomfortable, huh?" He asked me, getting a nod from me in response.

He nodded to me before looking at everyone else. "Alright guys. You all need to get to class. I'll talk to the new kid." Everyone nodded before leaving. I watched them leave one by one before Ash left. She was the last one out. Now, it was just me and Larry.

"Alright, it's just me now." He said, sitting down next to me, but still gave me enough personal space. "So, what is your name?"

"S-Sal Fi-Fisher..... b-but some people c-call me Sally F-Face..." I stutter. I hate my damn stutter. It made me sound like a wuss, but I guess I am.

Larry just smirked. "Why would they call you that? Is it because of the mask?"

"I-it's actually a prosthetic...." I whisper, refusing to look at him. Why can't I ever hold a conversation without making it awkward?

"Shit dude! I'm sorry. I-I didn't know." He said, obviously embarrassed. I just chuckle.

"It's okay. Most people just think I'm overly enthusiastic about Halloween." I say sarcastically, rolling my eyes.

Just then, the bell for first period rang out. I stood up, quickly grabbed my school stuff, and, without looking back at Larry, bolted out of the restroom towards art, my first class.
