THE SUN GAZED DOWN ON THE NEARLY abandoned city. It was strange to see the normally bustling streets of Detroit with not a soul roaming around. There were no cars driving over the snow-covered roads or pedestrians walking around hurrying to their destination. There were no angry shouts from people frustrated with their early morning or delinquents planning on skipping school for the day.
Instead, at the closed Chicken Feed, Hank Anderson was waiting for the two people who had made a strong impact on his life in such a short time. It only took a few days for the android detective and cyborg engineer to worm their way into his life, but he wasn't complaining that much about it.
Hank waited as patiently as he could for the two people who told him they would be here. He huffed and crossed his arms over his chest. He had been waiting for a little while already and was wondering when they would finally show up. They had told him to meet up in front of the burger place after their eventful day yesterday. After all, the last time he saw them, they had been held at gunpoint before setting free hundreds of androids.
The sound of a pair of footsteps then forced him to turn around to come face to face with his two friends. Natalie and Connor, with their hands linked together, walked over to the older man. The three of them all shared small smiles with each other. Each of them filled with happiness and relief at all of this being over. Hank approached them before pulling Connor in for a tight hug. To think that this man once said that he hated androids. Lieutenant Hank Anderson was now good friends with an android and cyborg. He let go of Connor before pulling Natalie in for one as well. Neither Hank or Natalie were much for hugging, but they let it slide this time since they had just come out of quite a stressful situation.
They shared some words with each other, expressing how relieved they were that this was all over. Hank teased the two for a little bit as well which caused the two to become flustered but with smiles on their faces. Questions about what would happen next were left in the air as none of the trio wanted to really discuss it. They would focus on right now, and right now, they had each other to joke around with.
Eventually, another car came down the deserted road and grabbed their attention. It was a cab that soon came to a stop at the curb. Three people stepped out of it. One of whom, Natalie had expected to see. Ethan Tyler bounced over to the trio and engulfed Natalie in a tight hug as he spouted out his worries over what had happened to her.
Natalie had called her brother after everything had calmed down last night. She explained what had happened for the most part, but of course, she left some things out. Including the fact that she may or may not have been knocked unconscious. Which was why he was fussing over the purple bruise that she had on her temple. She pushed him away with protests of hugging her too tightly and hurting her further.
Though once she pulled away she got a good look at the other two who had come with Ethan. The blonde and brunette stared at their sister. George was bouncing on the balls of his feet, seemingly holding himself back from attacking his older sister. Penelope looked warily from Connor to Hank and then to Natalie.
Natalie's chest swelled at the sight of her siblings. They approached the group slowly before Natalie rolled her eyes and opened her arms up for an overexcited George. He gladly leaped into her arms. Ever the moto-mouth, George started to rapidly spew out apologies to her. Though she assured him it was alright. George certainly seemed to be ready to fix their relationship now, and Natalie was excited about that.
Penelope pulled George away from Natalie and also hugged her, though it was brief. She seemed to be the most reluctant out of the siblings to just readily accept everything. Speaking to Natalie yesterday had definitely given both George and Penelope the backbone to finally see their older sister. Though Penelope did seem to continue to have her doubts, they could work through that.
Everyone was introduced to each other as they started to recount exactly what happened. The three other Tylers had to admit, that their big sister had had a very eventful few days. As they continued to talk, the idea of making up became clearer between the Tyler siblings. Their parents may never accept the cyborg again, but she accepted that now. They were stuck in their ways, and she was glad that her siblings weren't as bigoted as them. Natalie may never get to have the family that she had three years ago, but she was okay with that. As she looked around at the group that conversed happily together, she could say that she's found a new family to call her own.
A/N(WARNING: this is super long): And that's a wrap! Second ever fanfiction finished by me and I gotta say, I quite like this one. Natalie was a fun character to write and I think I did an ok job at showing her identity struggle. Also, having a sort of open-ended kind of conclusion to her relationship with Connor seemed to work. I don't think it would have fit the story if I had written a definitive conclusion to how their relationship plays out in the future. I think it would have felt too forced to have to do that, considering they technically had only known each other for a few days.
Oh, I had an idea. I had mentioned that I was thinking of continuing to write Natalie as a character. Since Detroit Become Human has, you know, multiple different endings, I thought about making another story. This one, Abomination, is what you could consider the best possible ending. With Natalie and Connor being together in some way with all of the androids alive and having a peaceful demonstration. But I kind of wondered what it would be like to write Natalie in a different way. Like what would happen to her if she was put into the worst possible outcome. In a scenario where Connor didn't become a deviant or she didn't accept her android side, I don't know. How would you guys feel about something like that? You know one more story that dedicated to one concrete storyline involving Natalie. Another idea that I have is writing one-shots of Natalie in different scenarios in the game. You know, like what if she said or did this instead of this, or what if Hank reacted to her in this way instead of that. Just a thought.
Though now that I'm done with this story, I can focus more on Supersonic and my Harry Potter sequel. Ups and Downs, the name of the sequel, will probably be my main priority at the moment. However, I do have a few other new stories in the works for fandoms like Star Wars, Stranger Things, and Doctor Who. Though who knows if I'll post them any time soon.
I still want to try and get Supersonic at least halfway done before I post anything new. You would think that now that we're in quarantine I'd have more time to write and stuff, but I don't. Strange.
There's also my Captain America fanfiction, An Uncertain Future. I haven't written that one in a while and I honestly am still trying to figure out where exactly I want to go with it. I am trying to create and write fanfiction based off of over a dozen movies, after all. An Uncertain Future is probably at the bottom of my list of writing at the moment, sadly. Though it's not like it's going to stay like that for long. I'll figure something out eventually. It's the biggest project that I want to try to do, and I want to get it done in one take, you know.
Wow, this was a long A/N... I just realized that now, I should probably put a disclaimer about that. Then again most of the A/Ns on my epilogues are long. Oops. Well, thank you to those who may have read this entire thing, I appreciate that, and I look forward to writing future stories for you all. Until next time!!
