I gather all of my bags and look at mom. We're parked outside of the place where I'll be spending the rest of my summer. I didn't want to come, but mom insists that I need this. That I need to take a break and get away. But I don't need to get away from anything. It her that needs a break. But I let it go and accepted that I'm traveling across the country to a place that I've never been, a place that I can't locate on a map, and that I will be spending the entirety of my summer break there.

My mom looks at me and sighs, trying to smile. "Well, here we are."
I force myself to smile back at her. "Yep. Here we are."
She puts on her sunnies and looks at the camp. "Looks nice. I think you'll like it here."
"Mom.."
"Look..I know this is probably all so much for you right now, but I really need a break. We both do. And we both deserve one."
"I know. It's just..a whole summer?"
"A whole summer." She clasps her hands together and beams at me. "I'm so excited for you. This will be an amazing experience. I love you." She hugs me.
"I love you, too."
She playfully pushes me away. "Now go! Have fun, make friends!"
"Okay, okay. I'll go! But I'm not promising anything."
"You better have fun missy!"
I climb out the car, hauling my bags.
"See you in two months!"
"See ya!" She pulls out of the parking lot and beeps twice.
And just like that, she's gone. And my life was just about to go on the craziest roller coaster you've ever seen. So sit back, relax, and hang on tight.
