After Alana was left alone at the bar, she reflected on what Tom has said.

She didn't know why he had said that, but she was never going back to her parents. She had a stable job and a roommate that she absolutely adored, and her parents' company wasn't going under any time soon, so she had nothing to worry about.

She heard a shout from across the room and saw that Reid had walked into the bar with his date.

It was about 10 PM, so the dance floor had a lot of people on it.

Alana got up out of her seat, but staggered, the amount of alcohol she had consumed affecting her brain.

She bumped into a man on her left and mumbled a quick "Sorry" and tried to continue out onto the dance floor.

She felt a hand grasp her shoulder and she was turned around to face the man she had bumped into.

He grabbed her other shoulder and got close to her face. "Hey sweetheart," he said, leaning in close enough for Alana to smell the booze on his breath, "Wanna go for a ride with me?"

She tried to shove him away but his grip tightened. "Now don't try getting away from me, girl," he said, his voice turning to stone.

"I would take your hands off her if I were you," said a voice behind her.

The man was looking at something behind her, but didn't loosen his grip. "And what are you going to do about it?" he challenged.

Alana saw a blur that she could only identify as a very angry Reid rush the man and knock him to the ground. He gave the man a punch to the face, causing his nose to break open and start bleeding.

The manager rushed over to the commotion, and Reid slowly explained what had happened after the man had gotten up and staggered off.

Reid came over to Alana and grabbed her shoulders. "Are you alright?" he asked, pulling Alana into a hug.

She smiled blandly, the alcohol dulling her emotions. "Fine. Thank you for that."

She gestured to the blood still on the floor.

When Reid tried to speak more, she cut him off with a look.

"Reid Forester, I need you to go over to your date and explain that I'm your lame friend that has no life and needs your constant protection. Go enjoy your night," she said, shooing him away.

He looked at her, concerned. "Okay, but you need to get an Uber home," he said.

"Okaaayyy," she answered, the alcohol causing her words to slur together, "But jussst one moreee drink?"

"No, no more," Reid said, pulling Alana away from the bar and towards the door. She looked longingly back at the bar, but allowed Reid to push her towards the door.

The night air hit Alana's face as Reid pushed her out the door.

"The Uber will be here in a couple of minutes," Reid said, "Will you be okay if I leave you here?"

Alana sighed and leaned up against the stop sign that was right in the curb. "Yeah," she said, "Go back in and have some fun."

Reid smiled. "Alright, I'll see you when I get back to the apartment okay?"

Alana nodded. She watched as Reid walked away and turned to look up the street where the Uber would supposedly be coming.

After a few minutes, an Audi with tinted black windows pulled up next to the curb, and the driver rolled the back window down. "Are you Alana Wethers?"
