"I was ten years old when I discovered how horrible and disgusting the real world is."
"How did you deal with it?"
"Well Jimin, sometimes an appropriate response to reality... is to go insane."

Seven years before chapter 1
Told by Present Y/N
~ Past Y/N was 10 ~
"Mama? May I go to the park?" I asked my mother who had a tissue shoved up her nose while she watched some stupid adult comedy that I had no interest in. She looked away from the TV mounted onto the wall upon hearing my squeaky voice and stared at me with confusion in her puffy red eyes.
"Y/N dear, you know I'm not feeling well today so I can't take you and your father is at work. Where's your brother?" I pouted and clasped my little hands together.
"He went to his friend's house." Mom sighed at that and sat in thought. She looked at the window to see it was a nice day but she just couldn't will herself to get up so, for the first time ever, she told me I could go by myself since it was only a block away but she wouldn't let me leave the house before a good ten minutes of telling me not to talk to strangers or wander away from the park and that I had to be home by three o'clock. Which I had no problem with, I just wanted to go outside to play on my favorite slide. The pretty yellow one was the best, straight down and no awkward curves that I would get caught on. The yellow slide was a real slide, I could always slide down real smooth and fast. I just had to play on it on such a beautiful day.
I happily left the house after eating a sandwich in five seconds flat; it was a new record for me. With my stomach full and my excitement level to the max, I was able to run to the park quickly, minus the three minutes I took to pet a wild cat. When I arrived at the park, my eyes glowed upon witnessing the bright yellow slide and I rushed right on to it, I was so happy that there was not a lot of children as I wasn't super social and didn't like other children very much. I liked to stick to myself and I was fine with it especially when the only slide the other children wanted to play on is the twisty blue one. They were such idiots. How could they possibly enjoy getting stuck on every turn the slide had? That was never fun to me at all, I loved the quick ride of the yellow slide and I could always climb up to go down again. I couldn't ever understand why other kids like stupid playground equipment but it left all the good ones to me so I never told them about my slide. Not like I would want to.
I had played around the park for a good hour or so and my watch had shown that it was two-fifteen so I still had about forty minutes to spare and have fun. I was about to take some more rounds on the yellow slide when I heard some strange noises coming from the forest of trees beside the park. Since I was a child, curiosity was one of my traits and I always had to satisfy it. I slid down my yellow beauty and made my way towards the trees, swinging on the monkey bars on my way there. The closer I had got, the louder the weird squelching and squishing got. When I got really close to the source, I had heard a new sound. A whimper. It sent shivers down my spine, something I had never felt before. My shoes padded softly across the grass and goosebumps rose on my arms as the sounds got even louder. Finally, I was in front of a tree but I knew that whatever the weird sounds were from, it was from behind that tree. I was nervous by the rough grunting and it confused me but I gently placed my palms against the tree and slowly yet stealthily looked around it.
