donghyuck had finished by 5 that day, wanting to get it over with. 

"don't worry, i'll be here to help."

ran through his mind, smooth like honey, sweet, and warm. a buzzing feeling to it. and this feeling stayed with him all throughout the day, making him smile a bit to himself. even in math. 

"you haechan hyung, what's up with you today?" jisung asked, face contorted in confusion and disgust. "what?" donghyuck raised a brow, grabbing stuff for his lunch tray. "you opened the door for a girl back there, d'you know her?" he questioned, grabbing a juicebox. "oh uh-" he looked back at the girl, blonde and eyes wondering. she was very pretty, innocent looking. but not really his type. her eyes met his, making her blush madly and look away. "nah, i dont know her." he answered, ringing up his food. he gave his school id to the lunch lady, "then why'd you open the door for her, total simp behavior." jaemin added, beginning to walk to their table.

hyuck followed them, rolling his eyes. "you know the only person i'd simp for is jeno hyung." he shot at the older, giving jeno a fist bump. jaemin seemed to pout at this, looking a little sulky. "but that doesn't excuse you hyung, has that tutor made you soft?" rejun teased, biting his apple. donghyuck flushed a bit. "pfft, nah. he's honestly just a twink. pretty annoying to be honest. like come on, you're supposed to be my hyung. have your balls even dropped." he laughed, eyes fluttering closed, then making eye contact with glossy eyed moon taeil, who just happened to be walking past his table.

he had whipped around, eyebrows furrowed, big puppy eyes glossy. his fists were held tight at his side, shaking slightly, the ziplock filled with carrots swaying a bit. hurt was written all over his features as the stared down the younger, other boys not seeming to notice but one. "hey who's that?" jeno asked, looking at the boy starting at them. donghyuck bit his lip harshly, small beads of blood escape the opening.

"i don't....i don't know." 

and with that taeil turned around, walking to the '127' table. he sat next to the boy again, the one hyuck didn't like. he sat there sadly munching on carrots, not even bothering to dip them in ranch, until the boy next to him started feeding him. donghyuck tensed at this, shoulders straight. "you good, hyuck?" jeno asked, patting his shoulder. "m..mhm." he hummed, leaning against the other softly, guilt eating at his insides.

when donghyuck walked up the stairs he couldn't help but feel a nervousness build up in his chest.  he walked down the hallway, like yesterday flooding with sunlight, god why was his hand shaking? he walked down the hall, shoving his hands in his pockets, taking one out to slide the door open. taeil sat there silently, pouting sulkily. there was something off about his aura. had he really hurt the others feelings? taeil finally seemed to notice the others presence, flinching a bit. "hi.." he said quietly, offering a small smile, that wasn't returned by hyuck, doing the same as yesterday, plopping down on the seat across from him. 

it was silent a bit, until taeil grabbed the benchmark from yesterday. "uh, well you finished all of the questions too quickly, they are all wrong." he said quietly, flipping through it quickly, pointing to the different red marks along the pages. "but uh, let's try again yeah?" he huffed, getting a copy of the test out, placing it infront of the boy. hyuck looked at the boy for a lingering moment before he looked at the test, sighing heavily.

an hour had passed, no conversation, just silence flooding the room in an uncomfortable silence as taeil had not allowed him to listen to music. he was still bullshitting the questions, filling in random bubbles, writing 'i don't know' for answers.  he was lee donghyuck, haechan, he was't gonna let some softie like taeil change him.

"ah, we're almost done....you can uh, you can leave if you want." he said, smiling weakly, eyes slightly shiny. "hm, alright."  donghyuck said, not giving it much thought.

and he left, just like that.
