It's a beautiful morning in Blüdhaven, the first sunny one in a while, which is the reason I'm awake first because the beautiful sun was shining in my face.
I look over to see Richard sleeping soundly. I smile at the sight and quietly get out of bed. I close the bedroom door behind me when I leave so I can make his coffee without waking him up, hopefully.
I walk to the kitchen in the small apartment that we share and grab the tea kettle and fill it with water. I place the kettle back on the stove and turn on the burner. I grab my favorite mug out of the cabinet and grab my favorite tea and place it in the mug.
I then go over to the coffee pot and get it all set up so Richard can have his coffee ready when he gets up.
I hear the kettle start to whistle so I slide over and turn off the burner. I pour the hot water into my mug and let my tea seep.
After a few minutes, I take the tea bag out of my mug and throw it away.
I walk to our couch and grab the book that I've been reading. I sit down on the couch and place my tea on the table next to the couch. I open my book and start reading.
It wasn't long before I heard the bedroom door open and Richard came walking out with bed head.
I watch him sluggishly walk to the kitchen and go to the cabinet to grab his coffee mug. He goes to the coffee pot and pours his coffee into the mug.
He grabs the sugar and pours a lot into his mug, just the way he likes it. Then I watch him go to our front door, unlock it, open it, and grab the newspaper that sits in front of it.
He closes the door and walks over to the couch and sits next to me.
He takes a sip of his coffee and lets out a sigh. I shake my head and wonder how he can drink so much sugar in the morning.
I go back to reading my book.
After I hear Richard give a couple more content sighs, I heard him place his coffee on the table and obnoxiously open the newspaper.
I shake my head and continue to read.
After an obnoxious page turn, he starts to shift around on the couch. He did this for a while until he gets comfortable and then he stops. Then, after a few minutes, he starts to shift around again. He finally settles and grabs his coffee to take a sip.
I look at him to make sure he isn't having a seizure. I watch him place the coffee cup calmly back on the table and open the newspaper back up and start to read.
I slowly turn my head from him and back to my book and continue my reading.
It was a good five minutes of silence and stillness before Richard started to shift around again. He obnoxiously shifts around until he flops his head onto my lap.
He reopens the newspaper, hitting me in the head with it in the process, and continues to read.
I let out an annoyed sigh, and once again, continue to read.
Every few minutes, Richard made it his job to let out a long, depressed, dramatic sigh. I was doing fine with it at first just thinking that was his way of responding to what's in the paper, until I look to see what section he's reading.
I see him reading the funnies section while he is dramatically sighing. At this point in officially annoyed.
"What is your problem?"
"What? I don't have a problem.?
I raise my eyebrow at him.
"Seriously, I'm fine."
"Ok, if you say so."
I go back to my reading and enjoy a few minutes of silence before Dick let's out another one of his sighs.
"Ok, that's it! What is your problem?"
He looks at me with big, innocent eyes.
"I'm not doing anything, love." He say all innocent.
"Really? Cause your sighing is doing something and that something is really annoying, love." I say, beyond annoyed.
He tips his head back on my lap and looks outside the window.
"Is this your way of telling me something?"
He nods his head.
"So, what is it that you're trying to tell me?"
"Its been raining all week so far. Today is the first sunny day. So..."
"So?"
"I want to go outside."
I blink at him a few times.
"You know you sound like a dog, right?"
"I know, but I really, really want to go outside and go to the park."
"Do you want to play fetch while we're there?" I ask sarcastically.
He laughs.
"No. But I would like to have a picnic and show off my beautiful sun that I get to live with. Which, by the way, made the rainy days all sunny and beautiful."
"Well, when you say that how can I say 'no'?"
"So we can go to the park and have a picnic?"
I nod my head.
He smiles and jumps up from the couch and runs to the kitchen. He pulls out ingredients from the fridge and cabinets and starts making a meal that we can pack.
I close my book and get up off the couch to go help him.
"Nope. I've got this. You go get ready and grab the basket and the blanket and I'll worry about the food."
I put my hands in the air.
"Ok. I'll go get ready."
I head back to our bedroom and start making myself look presentable.
I swear that every time that we both sit down and read together, it always ends up being interrupted, always by Richard of course, but he always comes up with something fun to do.
When I finish getting ready, Richard walks into the bedroom to change.
I walk out and pull a blanket off from the back of the couch and go to the closet to grab the picnic basket.
I pack everything into the basket and by that time, Richard walks out of the bedroom. He comes to the kitchen and grabs the picnic basket off of the counter.
He heads to the door and grabs the keys to his motorcycle and the keys to the apartment.
"Ready to go?"
"Yep, all ready."
He opens the door for me and I walk out into the hallway. He walks out after me, closes, and locks the door behind him.
"To the park we go then!"
