Nightmare

It was a stormy night. The rain was beating against Titans Tower and thunder boomed in the sky.

Usually on nights like this I enjoy sitting in front of the windows with a cup of tea to watch the storm. But, tonight I sit in the med bay with Nightwing.

Hours before, the alarm went off signaling that there was trouble in the city. We all sprang into action to take down the crook.

Everything was going smoothly until Nightwing became distracted, by what we don't know, and the crook had gotten the best of him.

That's why I sit here now next to him. He's out cold and has been for a few hours. And I know that his slumber isn't very peaceful.

I can see his eyes rapidly moving around under his eyelids. And every time I close my eyes I can see what he's seeing in his dream.

It's almost like his worst life events are on repeat in his dreams. I swear that I've seen some the same images over and over again.

I keep seeing his parents falling to their death, Joker shooting him in the shoulder, his fighting with Batman, and a bunch of his Slade encounters. I never knew how much was haunting him. Then again, he never tells us anything, so how would we know?

The door to the med bay slides open and Cyborg walks in.

"Any changes yet?"

"Nothing yet, but I'll let you know if there is."

He nods his head slowly.

"When he wakes up, will you come get the whole team? Everyone's really worried."

"Yeah I can do that."

"Thanks Rae. Do you need me to bring you anything or do you need a break?"

"No I'm good. Thanks though Cy."

"No problem."

He turns and leaves the room, once again leaving the two of us alone.

"So how long do you plan on pretend sleeping?"

A chuckle comes out of Nightwing.

"Just until Cyborg left."

"So how do you feel?"

"Like shit and embarrassed. I can't believe that I was so distracted out there. If I had been with Batman, he'd be giving me a lecture right now."

"Do you want me to give you a lecture? Cause I can."

"Please, spare me. I'm not in the mood."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

I mouth 'no' at the same time he said no.

"Why am I not surprised? You know I saw everything you were dreaming right? It's obviously bothering you, so why don't you talk about it with me?"

"Because I dont feel like it, ok!" He angrily yelled.

I raised my eyebrow at him.

"I'm sorry Raven. You didn't deserve that."

"Its fine. But you do know that I'm here if you ever want to talk, right? I won't go around telling the others your deepest, darkest secrets."

"I know and I appreciate that, but I just really don't want to talk right now. Maybe some other time, I promise."

"I'm going to make you keep that promise."

He chuckles.

I get up from the chair that I'm sitting on and make my way towards the door.

"Where are you going?"
