Jealousy

Sorry I didn't update a couple of days ago I didn't like the prompt. I felt that it would have been to cliche and predictable.

"Rachel, this day is all about you and what you want to do, so will you please stop pouting like a two year old who isn't getting their way?"

"All these girls are prettier than me. Why did you let me choose the mall again?" Rachel said with a pouty voice.

"Because you were craving the mall's Chinese food. And no other women's beauty can compare to my WIFE'S beauty."

"You're just saying that to make me feel better. You don't mean it."

"Rachel, think about it this way. There many, MANY women in this world and I chose you to be with for the rest of my life."

"Yeah. I guess that's true."

"So, do you want to go somewhere else?"

"No. Now I want to make the other girls jealous that I'm married to the most handsome man in the world."

Richard sighs.

"Why are you mad at me? I didn't do anything to make you mad at me."

"Wha-? Where did you get anger from?"

"See! You're mad at me! I didn't mean to do anything to make you mad at me."

And the waterworks start.

"Oh, Rachel. Honey I'm not mad at you. I just think it's funny how quickly you changed your mind."

"That sigh wasn't one of humor Dick."
She sobs.

Richard pulls a tissue out of his pocket and hands it to his wife.

"I'm sorry honey, I really didn't mean to sound angry. How about I make it up to you? Why don't I go get you some ice cream?"

She sniffles and wipes away her tears

"Ok."

"Ok. You stay here and I'll go get you some ice cream. What would you like?"

"I want mint chocolate chip with hot fudge, sprinkles, strawberries, and chocolate chips."

"Ok, I'll be right back."

Richard quickly makes his way through the mall crowd to an ice cream shop. He orders ice cream for the both of them and makes his way back to his wife.

"Here you go dear. Enjoy!"

Rachel digs into her ice cream, enjoying the sweetness of the cold treat. Suddenly she stops and looks at her ice cream with disgust.

"I can't eat this!" She says annoyed.

"Why? What's wrong with it? Did I forget something? Oh man I forgot something didn't I?" The panic was coming through in his voice.

"No you didn't forget anything. It's just all the girls that are walking around are watching me eat this. They probably think I'm a slob."

"Ok Rachel. This whole jealousy thing is ridiculous. I've taken you out today to make you feel good, to give you some you time. We can go anywhere you want to go today. We don't have to stay here and I highly encourage you to pick another place to go to. I want you to feel comfortable. I want you to eat your ice cream in peace, so please, please, pick another place that you want to go to."

Rachel just blinks at him, surprised by his little outburst.

"Rachel, you're thirty eight weeks pregnant. I know all that you have been feeling today is your hormones going crazy. And I get that! Kind of. But what I'm trying to say is that this is your last chance to have some time for yourself before the baby comes. So lets do whatever makes you happy today!"

"How about we get in the car and start driving home. While we are driving home, we'll eat our ice cream. When we get home we'll finally stop procrastinating and pack the hospital bag and we'll put the car seat in the car. Then when we're done with all of that we'll put the hospital bag in the car and start driving to the hospital. While you calmly drive, I'll call our family to let them know we are heading to the hospital because the baby is ready to enter the world."

"Ok, that sounds like the perfect day."

They slowly get up from the table they were sitting at. Rachel was staring at Richard as they exit the mall and made their way to their car.

Suddenly Richard stops dead in his tracks.

"You're in labor. We're having our baby today!"

"Wait, hold on! Don't start to panic yet because I'm not in labor, yet. My contractions are getting closer and more intense. And my thought is by the time we make it home, pack the baby's stuff, and start safely driving to the hospital, keyword safely, I'll be in labor. Or close to it anyway. And I could be completely wrong, but here's to wishful thinking."

"I'm going to be a dad today."

"We don't know that just yet."

"I'm going to be a dad."

"We went over this the day I told you I'm pregnant."

"I know, but I'm going to be a dad today!"

"Ok, seriously, stop pushing it. The more you say it, the lower our chances become to actually meeting our baby today."

"But I'm really going to be a dad and I'll be able to hold our child soon."

"Dick." She said sternly.

"Ok, ok, I'll stop. But I can't believe that I'm actually going to see our baby soon!"

Sorry I didn't update this yesterday, I had a lot of unexpected distractions.

This is the last one unless I can come up with an idea to make up for the one prompt I didn't do.
