Sam and I start to run madly to the last abandoned house, the one we left Spencer and Cat inspect, the one that Nora is in.

"WAIT!" I hear behind me from Bella but I don't stop running, my feet hitting the ground at a burning pace.
All going through my mind is:
Spencer. Cat. Nora. HELP!!

I turn the corner into Giggeley Street and look either side of me to find the abandoned house. As I see it I stop dead in the middle of the road, causing Sam to hurtle into me. I barely move.
Panting, Sam asks, "What do we do now?"
I look up at the house, huge and falling apart with the door seemingly locked, I say what's on my mind:

"Just go in and do something, man."

Sam nods and rushes up to the porch. She positions herself and gets the door down with two kicks to each of its pressure points then one to bust it, and I dive into the house with her on my tails.
In the middle of the old tattered sitting room, I hold up two fingers to gesture to pause, and stretch my ears. Wherever there's sound, there's got to be Nora, and wherever there's Nora there's everyone else, right?

Eventually I hear a scuffle somewhere below us, and I stare down. Sam does the same, and smacks her forehead.
"Of course!" she exclaims, 'she's always had something weird to trap us in in the basement!"

I start to run to the back of the sitting room where the entrance to the basement usually is, and sure enough there are a small case of steps leading to a locked door and the lights in it are on.
Not knowing what else to do I rush down the steps and start to bash the door. Behind me Sam gets out he cutlery for some reason then begins to kick with me.
As soon as we get the door open a crack, I reach for the lights and shut them off to the sound of a gasp.
Sam looks at me, and confirms my thoughts with a nod:
Nora.

I try to think of a plan to attack - I have to think of one somewhere, right? - but then I hear Spencer shout, "Y/N?!" and lose any hope of rational thought.
He's in trouble!

In the dark Sam and I scrabble down the steps. As I bend to my toes to get into the best possible starting position to attack in the dark, I hear a chicken cluck next to me.
"Maurice?" this Nora asks worriedly, and Sam whispers to me,
"Now turn the light back on."

Still in my folded position I hop up the stairs - actually, better vantage point, j think I'll stay here for a surprise attack - and flick the switch, and the room lights up for me to see a deep well, a tall girl with long brown hair in a funky cardigan, and Sam below the steps holding a chicken with a fork pressed up against it.
I grin. Go, Sam!

"Who wants chicken?"
Our antagonist grinds her teeth. "Sam Puckett!" Down the well I hear Cat gasp and Spencer say, "Sam?!"
"Don't touch my chicken!" she threatens, but Sam just slowly presses the fork onto different parts of the clucker.
"Oh, I'm already touching it," my friend says sadistically, and from the look on Nora's face she is really getting to her. I mentally note that down: fiercely protective of chicken.

"Now," Sam says, either having forgotten me or saving me for later bendy use, "I'll make you a deal. You let down a rope and let Cat, Spencer and Dice go, and I don't pluck, cook, eat, digest and poop out this chicken."
In the well everyone cheers, but from the look on Nora's face I don't think that's going to happen.
She smiles derangedly, "No."
I frown. Where is this crazy gank going?
"Why don't you and I..." she pauses for dramatic tension and I roll my eyes, "fight?"

In the well everyone gasps, and I look at Sam from my hidden corner to see her reaction, which is neutral and thinking.
"And if you win, you and your friends... will go free!"
Sam considers it, then lowers the chicken to below me, winking as she looks away from Nora. I nod back, already knowing what to do.
"Cool. Let's dance."
