Chapter 20

SOOJIN'S POV:

It's chemistry class first. We enter the dark room and Jeno reaches over to flick open the light switches.

Readjusting my chemistry books, I look over at Jeno, who is staring at his phone, amusement clear in his eyes.

'What is it?' I ask.

He shrugs. 'You'll see in a bit.'

Raising an eyebrow, I decided to ignore it for now.

'Jeno!' A deep voice roars. Literally.

I jump from my seat, startled. Looking up, I see Jisung standing at the door, glaring at Jeno, who just laughs. I'm honestly surprised, simply because I thought no one would dare to talk to Jeno like that. And when Jeno doesn't react angrily, I'm confused. Do they know each other?

Jeno laughs again. 'Sorry buddy.'

Jisung groans. 'I swear I'm gonna go mad. How could you?'

My eyes darts between the two, utterly lost. 'Um...what's happening?'

Throwing his hands up in exasperation, Jisung jabs his finger at Jeno angrily. 'This guy here. Left me in the gang hideout! Our driver had to go back and drive me to school. Again.'

My eyes widen. 'Wait what? You're from Jeno's...'

'Oh right. I forgot to tell you. Yeah. I'm from Kun's gang too. Just like, don't announce it to the world.' He smiles.

'So what happened?'

Jeno smiles sheepishly. 'Well...'

Jisung's smile vanishes as he turns to him. 'Well? What do you mean by "well"?'

'Basically our driver is supposed to drive Jisung and I to school everyday. But as you can see, I kind of forgot about him this morning.'

Jisung is fuming once again. 'Kind of! You kind of forgot!'

I giggle. 'Oh Jeno. You're such an idiot.'

He glares at me. 'I'm not.'

'You know you are.'

Jeno rolls his eyes and that is when Lia walks into the class. An instant silence washes over us.

Lia doesn't seem to have noticed the commotion just now.

She smiles, ignoring Jeno like she always does. 'Morning Soojin. Morning Jisung.'

We both smile in return. Jisung goes to his seat and Lia sits down as well. Watching Jisung silently glaring at Jeno pushes a smile onto my lips despite my efforts not to.

'Why are you smiling?' Lia nudges me.

I tried so hard. But when I see Jeno trying supress his own smile, I can't.

'Stop ignoring me!' Lia pouts and turns away. That's only when I realize I haven't answered her.

'No wait what? I'm not ignoring you.'

'Then, what are you smiling at?'

'Nothing. Really.' I stifle a giggle.

Lia rolls her eyes. 'Just tell me already.'

'Basically an idiot did an idiotic thing. Then someone is mad at the idiot now,' I say simply, struggling to keep a straight face at the polar opposites I'm seeing. Jeno is glaring hatefully at me; Jisung is now fighting to not laugh and Lia is really just confused.
