Chapter 1~ Suprise Visit
Opening the kitchen pantry, I took out the family sized bag of mini Twix bars that my mom was saving for Halloween and poured myself a huge glass of whole milk. She thought she was being sneaky hiding the Twix behind the boxes of pasta. But I was like Sherlock Holmes when it came to finding hidden candy. My mom always seemed to forget this when a group of trick-or -treaters came to our door and was shocked that the candy bags were half empty.
Walking over to the sliding glass door that connected to the backyard I fumbled with the contents in my hands. However with my amazing skills and a little bit (okay, okay a lot) of luck, I was able to open the door and not spill any milk.
Making my way to my striped hammock I placed the milk and Twix on the little side table that I had made. On the hammock was my iPod classic and book. The Hobbit, was open with the spine facing me. Careful not to lose my page I picked up both the book and iPod, before flopping down into my hammock somewhat gracefully. Placing the open book on my knee, I slid on my Gummy Bear ear buds, before scrolling to my Lord of the Rings File, I choose to listen to The Fellowship, and let Howard Shore's masterpiece erupt into my ears. I take a Twix out of the bag and unwrap it, putting my book close to my face and reading intently. I'm not popular in school. I have three close friends, and we are all nerds. Boys ignore me, and popular girls make fun of me. I guess I'm nothing special, I have long blond beach wave hair and gray eyes that can change colors. I love to each chocolate, but my fast metabolism is my saint and does't let it go to my butt or legs. My life, is not perfect, I have never made it out to be that way. The only escape I have is books and my love of reading and writing. I love to read, but not just any books. The Lord of the Rings series. I wish there was as perect of a place as the Shire. Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin are all my friends. Aragorn and Legolas are like my older brothers, and Gimli is the best friend that can always make me laugh. I have read the books to many times to count, I am obsessed, and I wore out all of my Lord of the Rings DVDs. Even though all of them are fictional characters I still feel they would understand me. Middle Earth is a place of imagination, I can escape there whenever I want. I live in a fantasy world most of the time. I still achieve good grades in school, which makes my parents happy. They worry about my social life though, however I think they should focus on their relationship before they complain aout my social life. I'm happy this way, I'll go to college and become a writer then make up my own stories that I can live in daily. My home will be an isolated cottage, and I'll live there with a white horse named Shadowfax. Life will be good! I chomp my Twix bar and marvel at the part where Gandalf takes all of the Dwarfs and Bilbo to Rivendell. The description is so amazing, I feel myself drifting into the world. All the elves float instead of walking with long perfect hair and silk robes. Shaking my head I return to the book. Sensing someone I look up and gape at the figure before me.
"Arella" Elrond stands before me, his hand extended. His angelic fingers reach for me.
"A-Are you real?" I whisper, reaching my own hand to him. His skin looks so pale compared to mine.
He seems so real, I look around, I'm still outside of my house, and I don't remember falling asleep. The music is playing in my ears, and The Hobbit is being held securely in my fingers. I'm not dreaming, I can't be!
My fingers are almost to his own. His eyes shimmer gold, and I feel entranced. I sense his fingers on mine but he slowly begins to dissapear.
"Your time has come Arella." His voice calls, before he is completley gone.
"Elrond...W-Wait!" I shout sitting up, oh my god he was here!
"Arella?" My mom calls. I shake my head, that was real, I'm posotive.
