"Reminder, there will be a Drama Club meeting this afternoon right after school in the cafeteria until 5." the intercom blares. I drop my pencil. Drama Club? That's an interesting activity, perhaps I will join Drama Club.
"Ruby, if you could snap out of your thoughts and pay attention, that'd be great. Ruby? Ruby!" Mrs. P, my Spanish teacher calls out.
"Oh! Yeah. Sorry." I clear my throat and mumble.
Kids in my class laugh at me, and one of them shouts out, "Mrs. P!!! There's a big storm outside!"
All the students but me rush over to the window. " Excuse me, I am trying to teach a class here." Mrs. P speaks sternly.

I anxiously rush the through the halls. This is it. A way to start my year off right... or so I hope. As I open the door to a potential career choice, I feel nervous as ever. Brandilyn, only one of the best actors our school has, pushes me to the side like a child rejecting broccoli."Watch where your going loser!" she snaps at me.
The nerve of some people these days.. Definitely rethinking this now. Once I finally manage to gather my things, I see Brandilyn strutting around as if she's the queen. I get a lump in my throat, and I feel sick. We haven't even begun the meeting! How am I to keep calm while she's here, acting like a know-it-all. I take a seat at a table with some girl from my classes, and I bounce my knees nervously. Something about this calls me, but I know I'll just be embarrassed during auditions. Yet I want this so bad. I want my own High School Musical, and I will get it somehow.
