Knock! Knock! Knock!
Miku glanced at the door to her shared apartment, then to her phone. It was almost ten o'clock, who would be knocking at that hour? In a normal situation, she would've told Rin to get the door, but she was out on a date. Hesitantly, Miku carefully stood up and walked to her door. Looking through the peephole, she merely saw black; whoever was at the door was covering the miniature piece of glass. This sent the tealette's stomach turning. Was a robber at her door, someone with ill intentions? With a shaky voice, Miku asked who was there.
No answer came, as expected. The knocking continued.
"I won't let you in until you tell me who this is!" Gazing back into the peephole, Miku saw that whatever was covering the piece of glass was being removed. It was a hand. As the hand crept away, she was met with a face that gave her butterflies and tears at the same time. "Luka...." She mumbled to herself.
"Miku, let me in." Hearing how meek her friend's voice was made Miku consider letting her in. "Please."
Letting her emotions get the best of her, the resident of the apartment quickly unlocked the door and opened it to see Luka face-to-face. "Why are you here? Don't you have homework?"
"I don't care about homework. Miku, I care about you, and I want you to tell me why you've been so shady about everything that happened!"
The tealette shut the door behind her pink haired friend and dared not to interrupt her rant.
"One day you're telling me you love me, and the next day you're avoiding me and pretending like you remember nothing! Do you understand how much that hurts? I can tell you're going through your own things, but take into account how I feel too. Neither of us were drunk, and you know that. I can't just move on from a night like that, and I don't know how you're pretending to."
Miku fumbled to find words, so she pointed to her couch and mumbled, "Just sit down."
Luka hesitated, but she did as the tealette said.
"Do you want anything? Rin went shopping last-"
"Stop it. You're avoiding this for no reason."
With that, the younger girl felt herself break. The tears started flowing down her cheeks without any warning. "For no reason? For no reason? You don't understand half of what I've been going through. You're here thinking I want to forget anything but I don't want to do that at all. That night was amazing and I've never been so happy in my life, but, Luka, all my life I've liked boys. Not once have I ever looked at a girl and felt any kind of romantic attraction. I don't understand what's happening at all. I have to be straight, and I know that, but..." Miku continued with a crooked smile, "I can't help but love you, and that's the hardest part about this."
"But why do you have to stop yourself? Just let yourself be happy!"
"Because what if we break up? I don't even want to be in a relationship with a girl but I'm throwing away all of my rules for you, so it would crush me if I dedicated so much towards you and then have it crumble in the end. Do you get what I'm saying?"
Luka sighed, "Yeah, I do." They both sat in thickening silence for a few seconds until Luka piped up again. "What happens now?"
"I don't know."
"So from what you're saying, you don't want to be in a relationship?"
"I...." Miku found the willpower to sit beside the pinkette on the couch. "I don't want a relationship with a girl specifically. I'd much rather date a boy, but... if I'm dating you then that's okay."
Luka had a faint smile growing on her lips, "Well then, Miku?"
"Mhm?"
"Will you be my girlfriend?"
The tealette didn't feel the overwhelming joy she felt before, and that wasn't fair on her standards. "Can you let me think about it for a bit?"
"Of course. Take as much time as you need to." Luka leaned closer to Miku with a grin, "I'll still love you either way."
"Alright, alright." The tealette found her heart racing in the best way possible. "You should head home."
The older girl let out a sheepish chuckle, "Yeah, I should."
After walking her "friend" to the door, Miku leaned up and gave her a kiss on the cheek, "There, you happy?"
Luka beamed, "Very. See you tomorrow?"
"See you tomorrow."
With a goodbye wave, the pinkette walked off and Miku closed the door.
Being Luka's girlfriend... that didn't sound bad at all.
