Otto awoke the next day, seeing Awsten nowhere in sight. Sighing, he grabbed his phone off of the coffee table, calling Awsten's phone and hearing it ring in the other room. Annoyed, he hung up, grabbing his shoes and quickly walking out of the door. He walked down the street, walking wherever his gut led him, and arrived at a small coffee shop downtown, smiling as he saw Awsten sitting inside, waving towards him. He walked into the small building, sitting beside the younger boy and quickly saying "Fucking hell, you had me worried." Awsten nodded, mumbling "Sorry" and taking another sip of his coffee. Otto noticed that Awsten's formerly milky white eyes were blue. Not the mismatched colors they had been before the incident, but a sky blue, which matched in both eyes. Awsten smiled, noticing Otto's confused stare, and said "Contacts. I bought them this morning. I figured it was better than... you know." Nodding, Otto agreed, ordering a coffee and turning back towards Awsten afterwards, saying "So, how about something fun today? Like a movie or something, y'know?" Awsten sighed, saying "Yeah, that would be nice" and getting up, excusing himself to the bathroom.
That night, they went to see a movie, going on a dinner date after that and arriving home. Awsten, peculiarly, had told Otto to head home without him, which the boy found weird. After another few hours, Awsten arrived home, his hands bloody and his shirt ripped. Otto jumped up from his place on the couch, quickly rushing to Awsten's side and saying "What the fuck happened?" Sighing, Awsten quickly said "Nothing. A fight, that's all. I handled it." Hesitantly, Otto backed up, saying "I'll go get something to help you clean that up. And a new shirt." Nodding, Awsten turned the kitchen sink on, trying to scrub the blood off of his hands. After cleaning up, the pair went to sleep, sleeping in the same bed for the first time in quite a bit.
Waking up early the next day, Otto walked into the living room, turning on the news and sitting down. The television read 'Local teen missing'. The photo, a young blonde whom Otto could've sworn he recognized. After a moment, it clicked. She had been the girl who made his coffee the previous day. His eyes widened, and he hesitantly got up to get Awsten, shaking him awake after nearly ten minutes and saying "Remember the blonde girl yesterday, from the coffee shop? Her name was Elizabeth, I think. Eliza... Elise... Elizabeth, something like that. Anyways, she's missing. Which means she went missing last night. The police are asking for any possible knowledge of what might've happened. You were out last night. Did you see anything weird?" Awsten, looking away from Otto, said "Nothing. She's a teen anyways, who's going to miss her besides her parents?" After a few moments, Otto said "Awsten, you know something that I know you aren't telling me. What happened? Come on, you can tell me." After a few moments, Awsten hesitantly said "No. If I tell you, you'll kill me. Or call the police. And I don't want either of those things to happen. I love you, Otto, you know that, right?" Nodding, Otto said "Yeah, Awsten, okay. I love you too. But what happened?" Silence filled the air for a few moments, which to both of the boys seemed like hours, and Awsten eventually spoke. "I killed her."
