Ch. 10 Why?

Third Person

The agents let the girl catch her breath for a moment, discussing the best way to get her out of the room without causing more pain. Emberlynn was quietly crying and Reid kept whispering to her that she was safe. They finally came to a conclusion to set her on the bed while the paramedics were on the way. They carefully wrapped a blanket around the girls limp form. When the medics got there they found that there is no way to get up to the girl so Morgan. Found a way to carry her. Reid assisted Morgan in wrapping the girl in a blanket and Morgan carried the girl like a small child. Everytime her arms moved she would cry out and when they got her on to the stretcher they helped her lay down on her stomach.

The medics helped cover the girl and put her on an I.V. with pain meds. Just as they were about to take her to the hospital she started to cry in fear.

"Please, I don't want to be alone! Please, send someone!" She cried out. Reid was quick to come over to where the men were.

"I will go with her!" He said as he got closer. They let him hop into the back and he grabbed her hand, she instantly calmed down. They started the drive to the hospital and every small movement caused her to yelp in pain.

"I want my mom." She said finally.

"Emberlynn, I am sorry." He said and her eyes instantly welled with tears.

"No." She whispered.

"I am sorry." Reid repeated himself.

"Why would he do that?" She whispered out.

"We don't know but he is going to be put away for a long time, I promise you that." He said rubbing small circles onto her hand.

"Was there anyone else that survived?" She asked looking onto Reid's face. When he didn't say anything her eyes closed and more tears ran down her face.

Back at the precinct Henery we screaming at the agents to let him see Ember. They eventually left the room as he wasn't going to talk.

"We need to try and find a way to get him to talk." Morgan said. The agents then got a text from Reid saying that they were currently treating Emberlynn for the wounds on her back. Hotch finally had an idea and he knew everyone was not going to be happy about it.

"We need to bring Emberlynn here." Hotch said in a grim voice.

"You can't be serious." J.J. said.

"I am, we need to give him a reason to talk." He said. "She will be shown to him and then we will get her out. We will tell him that we let him see her again if he corporates. We will not actually let him see her again obviously."

"Do you think she will agree?" Blake asked.

"We can hope." Hotch said.

"Morgan, Blake, and J.J. please go see her at the hospital." Rossi said. The agents then set off for the hospital. When they got there they saw Reid holding the sleeping girl's hand. They all walked into the room and Reid looked at the agents.

"How is she?" Morgan asked.

"They preformed a rape kit, that came back negitive, and I had to contice them not to sedate her five times." Reid said. He was avoiding the question and the four profilers knew it.

"Reid, that isn't what I asked." Morgan said.

"I know." He said looking at the girl. "She isn't in pain but that is due to the heavy amount of pain medication she is on. Other than the pain there is no sign of infection."

"Hotch wants her to come to the precinct, Henery is refusing to talk until he sees that she is okay." Blake said.

"Why would he do that? She has been through enough." Reid said harshly.

"Calm down Reid. None of us think it is a good Idea, but he isn't talking." J.J. said.

"I will tell her. She has been refusing to talk to anyone else since they got her in this room." Reid said looking at the girl.

"Okay, we will wait outside." Morgan said and followed the other agents out.

When they left they watched as Reid pinched the bridge of his nose before sitting in the chair again. He gently shook the girls shoulder making sure to avoid her back and they all noticed as her heart rate monitor spiked as she jumped. They watched her look around frantically and her body heaved as she gasped in breath. They also took note of Reid grabbing her hand and putting the other one firmly on her neck, as he talked to her.

"Ember, Ember you are safe. You need to calm down." He said. The girl's dull blue eyes met with his as she breathed out. "Take a deep breath."

She did as the older boy told her and Morgan had to keep the nurses from rushing the room.

"Emberlynn, I know what I am about to say is going to be hard but you need to listen all the way please." Reid pleaded. He watched the small girl nod her head as she settled back into a comfortable position. He back still stung if anything touched it, and her arms still hurt a little if she tried to use them. "Okay, Agent Hotchner wants you to come into the precinct. We need your witness statement. As well as Henery is refusing to talk. I know you probably don't want to see him but he said if he sees you he will give his full confession. We just want to show you him for a second, and then we will take you away. You will not be in there alone I swear."

He could tell she was upset but the news of having to face her kidnapper so soon. But, he also could see gears turning in her head. Reid knew she wanted to know what happened to her mother and he knew that she was also terrified.

"If I have to go could you and Detective Morgan be in there with me please." She said in a quiet voice. It was the most she had said since they found her so he nodded his head.

"I will make sure that we are in the room." He said. Ember watched as Reid walked over to the door to talk to the other agents and get her a transport to the hospital.
