Episode 4: Who is a Liar?

"Oh shit!" Kotori shouted before a chair connected with her head.

She was momentarily dazed, but she ignored the pain. And the blood that now dripped down the side of her head.

Kazuo stopped Juzo and was currently trying to talk him down. But based on the way Juzo approached him, it didn't appear to be working.

Kotori stumbled towards Ryouta and yanked him to his feet.

"Let's go, pretty boy!" She whispered as she dragged him towards Kyouko.

"W-wait! You're hurt!" Ryouta pointed out as he noticed that blood that dropped from the side of her head.

"I'll live." She replied simply.

As she got to Kyouko's side, she noticed that Juzo was now advancing on them. What happened to Kazuo?

"Y'know. You friend, Arata, I never liked him to begin with. He didn't do anything significant. But the way he looked at us, made me wanna beat him down." Juzo said, ready to throw another chair at Kotori.

Just as he's about to move, Juzo narrowly dodges a small metal object. Turn around, he saw Kazuo emerge from the smoke, not even scratched.

"You never learn, do you?"

Another brawl between the two quickly ended, surprisingly, with Juzo unconscious on the floor.

"That's...one strong old man." Kotori said, breathlessly.

They managed to tie up the former boxer. As they were thinking about what to do next, they heard a loud voice.

"Kyouko!!" Aoi shouted before running and practically tackling the detective in a hug.

The girl in the wheelchair came up beside her.

Kotori felt rather lightheaded as she leaned against the wall.

"Kotori? Are you okay?" Ryouta asked, catching everyone else's attention.

"Well, I could be better. Taking an entire chair to the head isn't exactly a good thing." The investigator joked.

Kyouko stepped forward.

"You could have easily avoided being hit with that chair. But you stood there and braced yourself for it. Why is that?" She asked, although she already knew the answer.

Kotori chuckled weakly and held up her bangle.

'Blocking or dodging an attack'

Suddenly, a loud voice rang throughout the building.

"Attention everyone. I have captured Makoto and Arata. They will be executed by my hands." Munakata said through the coms.

"It's a trap." Both Kyouko and Kotori said at the same time, surprising them both.

"Let me try to talk to him" Kyouko said after a short pause.

Kazuo shook his head.

"No. It isn't your place to get involved with him. Let me speak to him. If it's Kyosuke, then I can at least try to negotiate with him." Kazuo said.

Makoto was the first one to regain consciousness after being knocked out. He looked to his side and saw Arata laying nearby, unconscious.

Making sure to stay as quiet as possible, he slowly moved towards his comrade, only to be stopped by the blade of a sword.

"Makoto Naegi. You speak of spreading hope. But you only lead people to despair." Munakata said.
