Friendship brewing

Sonic slowly got out of bed and stretched,he looked out his window. "Huh I wonder what time it is?" He pulled out his phone to see that it was 8:00 am which was odd considering he could sleep for hours on end if someone didn't wake him up. "I wonder what I was so excited for I had to get up early?" He paused before realizing he still had the deal with his new friend Mario. He quickly put his clothes on,grabbed a bag so he could carry the stuff and then dashed down the stairs. He quickly opened the cabinet putting different items that didn't require cooking along with some soda. He was working on closing the cabinets when a young voice rang out "Whatcha doing with our food bro?" Sonic quickly turned around to see Tails with his hand on his hip glancing at the bag stocked with food "Oh Hey little buddy? Whatcha doing up so early?" Tails smiled "I should be asking you the same question. Also why are you taking all the good shit?" Sonic glanced at the bag "Cause I can" Tails gave him a weird look before speaking again "Sonic I know you,you're up to something. You never would take all the food because you can" sonic paused once more before grabbing the bag,slinging it over his shoulder and speeding out the house. "WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!" Tails shouted.

Below the water:

Mario looked around his small cave home making sure that Luigi was asleep. He finally found Luigi asleep on the floor and smiled. He slowly swam his way to the caves exit but not before Luigi's voice spoke out "And Just where are you going?" Mario jumped a little before turning around to face his twin brother who had his arms folded "Uh I'm just leaving" "To where?" "To the cove" "Mario you know how dangerous that is!" "I know I know but I'm gonna go see someone" Luigi raised an eyebrow "And who is this someone?" "I ain't telling you!" Mario yelled he then used his fire powers to create a little cloud of smoke in the cave before swimming off to the cove with Luigi yelling behind him, "Mario you get your ass back here this instant!!"

Above the water:

Sonic arrived at the cove and waited for Mario soon Mario popped his head out of the water breathing heavily. "What happened to you?" Sonic questioned, Mario placed his hands on the coves surface"I pissed off my brother and made a break for it." "So are you younger or older than him?" "Older" Mario stated. "Then why are you afraid of him?" Mario sighed, fixing his posture and moving his elbow so he could rest on it "Let's just say he can electrocute the water and it's not fun when you receive the shock. So anyways you got anything good to eat?" Sonic nodded, Sonic grabbed his bag and dumped its contents on the coves floor. Mario stared at the many colorful products and attempted to grab an orange bag reading C-H-E-E-T-O-S. Mario struggled due to being underwater Sonic saw this and grabbed the bag,opened it,and pushed it closer to where Mario was. Mario smiled as he grabbed a few of the Cheetos and pooped them into his mouth he soon grabbed the whole bag. "You really like those huh?" Mario nodded as he continued to shove Cheetos in his mouth soon the bag was empty and Mario was just staring at it confused "Where did they all go?" Sonic chuckled "You at them all" "I did?" "Yeah you did" Mario made a curious face and turned to Sonic "How do I get more?" "Well you have to get another bag" "You do? That's kinda dumb none of the other humans told me that before" Sonic paused "You know other humans?" Mario smiled "Yeah Obviously! I wouldn't be so calm around you if I haven't interacted with your species before" "So what did you mean by they didn't tell me this before?" "Oh,none of them told me you couldn't get refills without getting a new bag which is kinda obvious cause none of them let me eat the whole damn bag." Sonic laughed a little "Well you seemed kinda upset so I thought I'd let you eat the whole bag" "So Uh you got anything to drink?" "Yeah sure" Sonic reached into the bag and handed Mario a clear bottle with orange liquid in it. Mario took a few sips of the drink and looked at Sonic " So what kinda fun things do humans do? I know of some but I'm just curious about what you consider fun." "Oh there are lots of things to do! You can hang out with your friends,go on adventures,go to arcades,take walks, and a bunch of other stuff." Mario took another sip "So can I ask what you guys do for fun?" Mario shrugged "Eh there's nothing really fun to do, all we kinda do is try to live life and not get killed by King Bowser. Most just simply catch fish or start fights. Some try to appease the king while others go up to the surface to see humans." "I'm assuming that you fall into the third category?" "Yup" Mario and Sonic sat in silence until two voices shouted "SONIC WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" "MARIO WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Mario and Sonic both panicked and started shouting "HOW DID HE FIND ME?!" "WHO THE HELL IS THAT?!" "MY BROTHER!!" Soon Tails and Luigi approached Mario and Sonic there was silence until Tails spoke up "Is anybody gonna tell me what's going on?" Luigi added to this "I would also like to know what's going on here." Mario and Sonic both sighed,and explained what had happened and what was going on. After a while Mario and Sonic managed to explain what happened to both of their brothers. Tails and Luigi nodded along with the story Sonic sighed relief knowing how skeptical his brother was. Sonic finally got a good look at Mario's brother,he was taller than his brother,had a smoother mustache,and a little more muscular. But besides those differences both merman had similar hair,eyes,and voice. Mario also got a look at Tails. He looked to be younger than Sonic,he had yellow hair that was spiked up similar to Sonic's,pale skin,blue eyes,glasses,he was wearing a white t-shirt with beige shorts with some sandals. "So you guys are actually merpeople?" Mario nodded "Yeah why else would we be in the water and not in land?" Tails placed his hand on his chin and started to think "Could one of you get up on the rock so I can see your tail?" Sonic looked at Tails "Dude that's not a really good idea. Don't they need to stay in the water 24/7?" Mario shook his head "No I've been in land before so I'm fine with it" Mario turned to his brother "Weege you gotta lift me up" Luigi sighed "Hey Uh, Sonic that's your name right?" Sonic nodded "Could you help me lift my bro up he kinda weighs a lot" "Yeah sure" Luigi grabbed Mario and lifted him above the water ,Sonic then grabbed Mario from Luigi and placed him near the water but not exactly. Mario layed on the coves floor Mario flopped his tail around and enjoyed the sunlight coming from the coves roof that had some broken pieces in it. Tails excitedly looked at Mario's tail poking it and looking at every inch of it. "How do you even move it?" Tails inquired Mario shrugged the best he could "I dunno it just kind moves when I need it to" "Mind if I examine your torso?" Mario nodded as he rolled over to expose his torso. Tails's eyes lit up once more. "So is he your little brother?" Sonic turned to Luigi who looked intrigued "Yeah he's adopted" Luigi placed his hand on his face "What does adopted mean?" Sonic smiled "I think it means that someone who doesn't have a family is put into another family where the parents treat the non birth child as their own" Luigi paused "Huh that sounds kinda nice" "Eh sometimes it is. It takes a very long time for the child to become an official part of their new family." Tails kept looking at Mario's face and chest. He found it interesting how he seemed to have red markings on his chest and how he seemed to have fins instead of ears. Tails prodded at Mario's fin Mario flinched a little at the touch Tails kept asking Mario questions about different things. "Hey Mario?" "Hm?" "Are any of your scales loose? I would like to examine one of them." "I'm pretty sure I have some loose. Get me back into the water and I could check." Sonic stood up, grabbed Mario up and placed him back into the water Mario splashed Sonic and Tails upon entering the water. Mario dove his head underneath the water for a few minutes he soon reemerged with a bright red scale in one hand. "Here ya go Tails" Mario spoke the young boy's eyes lit up as he carefully reached for the red scale. "Thank you so much Mario!" Tails shouted the boy then hugged the merman the best he could Tails stood up and dashed back to the house. Sonic turned to the brothers "So I guess I'll come back tomorrow or the day after?" Luigi shrugged "Yeah sure it's not like we have an interesting life" Sonic chuckled "Welp hope to see ya two tomorrow." Sonic ran off after his little brother leaving Mario and Luigi alone. "So uh" LuigI turned to his younger brother "Where did you hide the goods you got?" Mario smiled and led Luigi to his secret stash.

Sonic entered the house through the back door. He looked around to see knuckles playing a game on his phone. Knuckles turned his phone off and looked at Sonic "Oh there you are. Mom and Dad were looking for you and Miles this morning" Sonic paused "Oops guess I forgot to tell them me and Tails went on an adventure" Knuckles raised an eyebrow "God you two are so weird" Knuckles stated he turned back around and resumed what he was doing before. Sonic walked upstairs to Tails's bedroom and knocked on the door Tails soon opened the door. "Oh hey Sonic what's up?" Sonic looked around before answering "Miles you can not tell anyone about those merpeople. God knows what someone would do to them" Tails smiled "So I don't tell Knuckles about them?" Sonic nodded Tails chuckled "I wasn't gonna tell anyone and I'm pretty sure Knuckles will figure it out eventually even if it takes him forever" Sonic smiled "Yeah he's not the brightest" Sonic looked at Tails "So what were you gonna do with the scale?" Tails gave Sonic a devilish smirk "Oh it's a secret" Tails closed the door and locked it. Sonic just shrugged and went to his room to practice his guitar. Sonic sat down on his bed when his phone buzzed he turned it on to see Shadow was texting him and he decided to respond. "Hey Shadow what's up?" "Nothing much Sonic. How about you?" Sonic tired to think of a witty response "Eh I'm doing good still getting use to how warm it is down here" "Have you seen that Doctor yet or no?" "No still haven't and don't wanna" "I don't have doubts your parents are gonna make you see him without notice" Sonic grumbled "I know your right but damn,I don't want that to happen!" "Sucks to be you!" "Oh shut up Shadow" "Well I've gotta go so I'll text you tomorrow" "Yeah bye Shadow" Sonic turned his phone off and sighed he really hoped he wouldn't have to go to that doctor anytime soon. Sonic looked out his window at the beautiful sunset over the ocean. "Maybe this move was good for me after all" Sonic thought silently.

Sorry this update took so long! Life got busy and I kinda forgot to update this story but know I'm back. I will try to keep this story updated as much as I can.
