When You Meet

"Attention!"

All the cadets in the room went silent and stood, giving a salute to Erwin.

Many of them looked over at me, considering they've never seen me before..

I was quite short compared to Erwin, to be honest.. I'm quite short compared to just about anyone in the room.. including my new partner, Levi Ackerman.

"Because of recent commands sent to me from higher-ups... you now have a second corporal."

Erwin gave me a glance, so I stepped up to introduce who I was.

"I, am Aneliea Rains. It's nice to meet you all.. and I hope we all get along well."

Some cadets gave me a quick salute, while others began to whisper to each other about what they thought of me.

After some instructions were given to the cadets, they all began to continue what they were doing.

Erwin began to walk away, but I wasn't told to follow this time. I took this as a chance to get to know some of the cadets.

As I walked through the dining area, some gave me glances.

After a second, I stuck my hand out and a large snake began to come out of my palm.

A few gasps were heard, but I ignored it and allowed Serpenti to slide her way around my neck.

I gave her a small pet and she licked my cheek.

I decided to take a seat at the nearest table, just to get to know a few cadets.

"Hello, it's nice to meet you all.."

My voice was a bit like a whisper, but they all seemed to notice me sitting there.

They all gave me big smiles and began introducing themselves.

"I'm Eren! And horse face here is Jean."

I let out a small giggle, and Jean's face heated up.

A girl who seemed to be stuffing her face spoke up-

"I'm Sasha~ This is Ymir, Mikasa, and Krista~!"

The three that she mentioned raised their hand and I gave a small nod.

"How about you two? What's your names?"

The blonde one seemed flustered, and couldn't spit out his name.

"His name is Armin, and me, I'm Connie."

I let out another nod at them and allowed them to continue eating.

Serpenti lifted her head off my shoulder and looked behind me.

The eight in front of me went quiet, and I let out a confused look.

I felt the presence of someone, and they were about to touch my shoulder.

In a blink of an eye, I was on top of whoever it was and had a mini knife at their throat.

Quickly, I realized my mistake and my face flushed red.

"I-I'm sorry.. I just have fast reflexes.."

Corporal Levi gave me a look, and I jumped off of him.

By now, everyone in the cafeteria was looking in my direction. I got spooked and grabbed Levi's hand.

Once again, I went at full speed. Making it look like I almost teleported out of the room.

We arrived in my new office and I shut the door behind us.

"Please.. allow me to apologize for what I did.. I just don't have the best past.."

Serpenti was glaring at him, and I knew she didn't exactly like him coming close to me.

When I looked at him, he didn't seem very amused with me.

He sighed and spoke up.

"I can understand you past effecting you.. but I don't see how it can cause you to always be on guard."

I tried to keep my thoughts from wandering off to everything that happened to me as a child. It seemed to work, though I don't think I could stop my eyes from going hollow.

"I..I-Its nothing really, just.. bullying?"

He looked at me and tried to read what that was suppose to mean.

"That sounded more like a question then an answer corporal Rains."

I tried to change the subject before he could dig to deep.

"Would you like some tea..?"

Levi let out a sigh and nodded.

'This is going to be one hell of an adventure..' 

I nodded after hearing Serpenti..

'It sure is Serpenti.. It sure is..'
