3 MONTHS LATER
"Thank ya' fa' choosin' Fo' Points, ya' room is down da' hall ta' da nearest elevator and ya' on floor number six. Enjoy ya' stay." Kane smiled politely.
He sat down in his chair exasperated. He had been on his feet since two this morning checking people in and out the hotel. Kane was now five months pregnant and this pregnancy wasn't getting any easier, especially having to do it all by himself. He had also enrolled into college at Hawaii Pacific University. Although it was stressful, he enjoyed every minute of it. He was going to accomplish his dream of completing college not only for him but for his unborn baby girl. His Adya Jhené, known to everyone else as Ladybug. Last week, he found out the gender of the precious life growing inside of him, the life he created. Honestly, it didn't matter the gender to him, he was just grateful to be carrying a healthy baby.
"You look tired." Clarence chuckled as he came out of the gift shop.
"Shit, I am. Ladybug got me tired. She got my damn ankles swole and everything." Kane laughed as looked at the time on his phone, only five minutes until he got off work.
"You still look amazing as always." Clarence smiled at Kane.
"Thanks, Clarence."
"What are you doing today?" He asked Kane as he leaned on the counter looking down at him.
"I got some assignments ta' do and I'm takin' a nap. I might go shoppin' lata' on fa' Ladybug's nursery."
"Can I join?"
"Nah, I'm good." Kane stood up, already knowing where this conversation was about to go.
Clarence's face went sour within seconds. This wasn't the first time Kane had spurned his advances. This had been going on for months now. Kane and Clarence were good friends until Clarence became interested in Kane. Kane, however, wasn't interested in anyone. He was just focused on himself and his baby. Clarence didn't seem to get the hint though. Every time he asked Kane to go out, Kane would turn down his advances, and it only seemed to piss Clarence off. It was his own fault though. Kane told him multiple times that he wasn't interested.
"So you still doing this Carter?" He looked at Kane in disbelief.
"Doin' what?" Kane acted oblivious as he clocked out.
Clarence came around the counter once he realized Kane wasn't paying him any attention and grabbed his bicep.
"You being serious right now? I've been trying to get with you since you first started working here and you've been tripping. Can't you see that I want you, Carter?"
Kane snatched his arm away, "I told ya' 'bout puttin' ya' hands on me, Clarence."
"So you're really not going to give me a chance?"
"What's so hard 'bout bein' told no? Damn, ya' actin' like Al-" Kane cut himself off before he said anything that would give away his past life.
"Don't compare me to some other man, I'm different. I'm nothing like the man who knocked you up."
Kane yawned loudly before grabbing his keys and his phone.
"Ya' done? I really got ta' get home. Me and Ladybug need our beauty sleep."
Clarence stepped back from Kane, smirking.
"You're going to regret this, Carter."
"Yeah, yeah." Kane walked from behind the counter and to the front door. "See ya' tomorrow."
Little did he know what Clarence had up his sleeve.
...
He stood in the full body mirror examining himself. Ladybug had changed his body quickly. His face was fat, his nose had spread slightly, his butt and thighs were extra plump, and he had stretch marks lining his thighs and stomach. Sometimes, he did feel self conscious. Ladybug made him feel like a whale at times, but he would go through this a thousand times over if it meant being able to meet his little beautiful baby.
