The last place you'd thought to move into on this exhausting journey was now right before you.
The shambled, rotten looking place called 'Addison Apartments' was the only place that would accept you without an adult, and you had no complaints, after all, the inside didn't look too bad, and everybody you'd met so far was very kind.
Far more kind than everyone from your past.
Shaking off the feeling of sadness, you rush up to your room with the little belongings you packed. The room was very mediocre, but oddly welcoming, despite the very obvious energy you felt from this place. From day 1, you were an odd kid, your head so far in the clouds that it made others envious. You knew there was more to the world than what we could see, and your journey to find it was just beginning.
No matter the tired feeling sneaking up on you, you couldn't rest yet. Not only because you wanted to explore, but because you spent a very fair amount of time trying to look good today. Yes, you most definitely had a bit more skin showing than you should have been, but you had spent far too long hating how you looked all those years. You were actually almost stunningly beautiful now, like you had just been plucked from the newest modeling magazine. Like most people though, you thought the opposite, especially since you weren't necessarily treated well in your years of living.
Nonetheless, you took your pen and mini notebook before heading out of the door.
There was immediate scurrying noises that ceased once you looked in the direction.
There stood two figures, one with blue pigtails, and the other with long brunette hair.
At least they were your age.
If they were older you would most definitely be creeped out, and you couldn't afford to find another apartment complex.
After an odd amount of silence, the taller male nudged the masked one.
There was tension, it was obvious from the beginning but it wasn't new for you.
"Welcome to the Addison Apartments, I'm Sal, he's Larry" stated the blue haired male, all while he motioned to the other.
You hated to sound like such a hermit, but this setback was jeopardizing your sweet, sweet rest.
After you stated your name to the two males, you wrote their names down in the small notebook to keep track.
"Look, I get it" you began speaking, shifting your weight to one side as you continued.
"You see someone your age and you wanna get to know them, but I just got here. We can talk while I scope out the place, but once I'm done I want to get some rest".
You didn't want to come off as rude, but it had been well over 24 hours since you've slept.
"Fair enough, we've got weirdo stuff to do anyway. By the way, what's someone like you doing in a place like this?" The brunette asked.
Larry was obviously the more blunt one out of the pair.
It almost offended you, like the way he worded it was a way of saying you were normal. It offended you that someone would even think that, considering all the effort you put into being a unique person.
"I needed a place to stay but they needed parental shit and I couldn't do that".
After the obvious curiosity piqued the males interests, you began again.
"You guys think I'm some basic bitch. Stop. You just met me, I can feel your judgement from here" you said as you walked down the halls with the two behind you.
"You're just really pretty. We don't mean to make you feel like that, it's just weird how you arrive out of the blue like this". You already admired Sal for wording his words nicer.
"I needed a change in scenery and this town seemed decent. I'm just on edge right now. New place, you know? I'm not trying to come off as a bitch".
The words came as a relief to everyone, and soon enough most of the tension had melted away.
"Sal was the same way, no worries. If you're scared of sleeping alone you could always come see one of us" Larry stated, a gentle nudge to your side.
You were nervous, this would be your first night sleeping alone, without knowing you were safe.
"Very funny" you said sarcastically, hopping into the elevator.
There were questions you wanted to ask them, but they'd all be answered in time. Right now you were focused on how safe this place seemed.
"He's just being stupid, but I mean...we have a parent, you know? It just seems like you're on your own and I wouldn't want something happening to you when nobody's around". You hadn't realized what Sal had truly meant by that, but you were scared regardless.
"What? Is- will something happen to me?" You asked, an oddly reassuring hand being pressed against your shoulder as you became anxious.
"Sally's just saying that IF anything happens, we'd feel responsible."
You felt chills up your spine at the thought of getting caught off guard and being killed in a place that was supposed to be your new home.
"Well you two seem to know some crazy shit then, huh? You said you have parents, I'm positive they wouldn't be comfortable with a random girl staying with you".
When you reached the top floor, it was very obvious that this place held many more secrets than you thought.
The feeling alone was enough to make you dizzy.
"You'd be surprised" Sal said with conviction, leaning against the elevator wall.
You didn't like the idea of staying with strangers, but it was better than feeling far more unsafe.
"Fuck it, which one of you am I gonna stay with?" You ask, closing the small notebook while you all took the elevator back down.
The two males looked at each other, up until Sal motioned to the taller male.
"Larry probably."
It felt like they spoke without words, like they had came to a decision based on nothing but expressions.
"Okay, let me get my stuff" you muttered, the tone a lot less sassy than before.
You felt oddly safe with these two, like deep down you could relate to them.
You'd know eventually, but for now it was time to become roommates with the hot new guy.
