I had recently gotten a job at a company that had a lot to boast about. Not only did I get the job, I was head of marketing at 26 let's all celebrate.

I had gotten an apartment on my own and everything seemed to be looking up. I was getting paid good money, in fact great money so a girl couldn't complain. I also got a car allowance which allowed me to get my dream Jeep Wrangler. Your girl was doing good in life.

I was currently eating lunch on my own, why? Because my ass hungry and my friends were busy with their husbands. My sister was out of town, so that left me alone.

Friends being  who was 5 years older than me. She had been married to her hunk of chocolate, Thabo, for 3 years now and they couldn't have been cuter.
Sade who was a year younger was married to Rasheed for 3 years now.

And lastly my younger sister Rahima whose been married for a year now. Mind you she's only 22.

Yes, I was the bridesmaid at all their weddings. It wasn't like I didn't try my hand at relationships. It's that the men I tried dating didn't do it for me. The last relationship I was in, we were together for 4 months. That was my longest relationship, Mathew, he was everything a girl could dream of but I just couldn't see myself with him for any longer. But we remained friends. He's now with Tania. I swear if she could get over her dislike of me, for no good reason I might add, shed see that Mathew was head over heels for her. He even asked me to help plan his engagement for her, which is going according to plan. She'd see that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

Now me on the other hand is not seeing anyone. My love life was dryer than the Kalahari. At this rate I think being single was in the books for me, for a long time.

After I was done with my sandwich I made my way back to my office. We had just gotten a big contract and the boss was in town so we couldn't have any screw ups. I was just excited to get to work, I just loved marketing.

As soon as I got to the building everyone seemed to be in work mode on another level. Not to say they weren't but today, the focus was beyond on point. Seemed that everyone wanted to show the boss man that they knew what they were doing. As soon as I got to reception Maggie the receptionist couldn't hold herself.

"Girl, where have you been," she said all ready to spill what she had been holding "Boss man is sooo fine, I swear of I wasn't married to Jack, I'd hit that" she said Fanning herself thinking of our boss.
"Mags don't exaggerate" I said laughing at her fanatics
"Girl, he is fine, but he must got something stuck up his butt, cause he just seems so tense" she said screwing her face.
"I'ma let you be" I laughed and made my way to the elevator.

The building had 23 floors, that's how big the company was, and I had the privilege of working on the 17th floor. The view was everything and trust me after a hard day's work, the view made me relax a little bit. As soon as I got to my floor, the office flirt Richard came up to me. I swear to all things holy that I would slap this man one day. He didn't seem to get the memo that I wasn't remotely into him, far from it actually.

"Hey mama, need me to escort you to your office?" He said while trying to put his hand on my back which I luckily side stepped.
"Touch me and I'll burn your hand" I said glaring at him.
"When are you going to stop the hard to get act, you know you want this" he said gesturing at himself.
The day I'll want him, heaven would freeze over, trust me, not hell, heaven.

I went into my office, but not before greeting my assistant. He was everything hunny, he gave life to everything. I lived him. He was one of my best friend. Martin. He was my gay best friend. We became friends in a short amount of time. Even though I've worked her for only 6 months we hit it off from the beginning.

As soon as I sat down I got a notification that we were having management meeting in an hour, to review everything in our departments. I felt like this day would just get longer. On top of that I had to ensure that everything came together for our current project. Talk about pressure. I'd just have to work overtime today. Guess your girl wasn't going home until late.

Before I knew it, Martin came into my office and sat down on the opposite side of me.
"Yes, Martin, come in, how can I help you?" I asked sarcastically.
"Girl stop, I need a respirator cause your boy is about to run out of air." He said, Martin always exaggerated, no wonder him and Mags got along.
"Not you too" I groaned.
"Not me too what.... You know what never mind" he waved that off and stated his reason for coming into my office. "There's a man, who is just sex on legs out there, damn. If you don't want him, I don't mind having him" he said while fanning himself.
"Boy bye, we're supposed to be getting work done not fooling around with gossip" I said going back to making notes.
"Girl, he's single so you better shoot your shot" he said seriously
"I don't mind being single, don't know why everyone is so worried about me" I said. So what, I'm single, I've made peace with it. I didn't need no man for now. When it happens it will, but for now my non desperate ass will remain single.
"Girl you need to get laid, you can't have all this chocolate and not bless someone with it" he said. "If I looked like you, you best believe I'm using it to my advantage" he said
"Well thank the heavens now, won't we" I said
"Nah girl, I bet you got dust building up down there, I'ma have to help you!" He said
"Get out before I wring your yellow neck boy, I have a meeting to get to" I made sure I had everything and made my way out of my office leaving Martin huffing and puffing.

When I got to the elevator, there was a man struggling with his tie. I didn't want to acknowledge it, but damn was he fine. Black and Grey hair on his head and a beard to go with it. The elevator doors opened and we both got in.

"What floor you going to" he asked, and damn was his voice sexy, stop get out of the gutter.
"23rd floor" I said. I couldn't help but look up and green eyes were staring at me. I had to stop myself from staring longer, as soon as we broke eye contact I moved myself to the other end of the elevator. I heard him huff again and glanced at him to see him back at it with his tie. Now don't ask me what drove me to do what I did next, I bet Jesus himself was confused.

I stepped up to him and did his tie real quick and went back to my spot
"Thank you" he said sincerely. I just nodded my head. Damn, he smelled like comfort and man. We got to the 23rd floor and I didn't wait for the doors to fully open before I stepped out and made my way to the meeting room.
