The Day We Met

Birthday Party

8-year-old Adam sat on the hammock outside watching the stars, todays his birthday. His parents and siblings were there, so were  some of his cousins. A few family friends were also there. Also, a girl, maybe his age. What was her name? Barbara? Yeah,
that was it, they only interacted once, when she greeted him when she walked in. Adam didn't like socializing, he was more of an introvert then an extrovert

Barbara Davis sat in the living room, she didn't know anyone, so there wasn't anyone to talk to. She noticed the boy looking at her earlier, but she was to shy to look back. She knew his name though, Adam, that's it. He seemed nice, but she was to shy to talk to him. Birthday parties aren't exactly much fun to her, they're sad and boring,  especially when you don't know anyone.  The other kids looked older than her, and they didn't seem to notice her, but they were upstairs, she also doesn't have any siblings . She wanted to talk to Adam ( though she was an introvert, like him) , actually she was going to talk to him.

She went over to the back door and opened it, and went out to where Adam was sitting.

" Hello."she said, startling him a bit " Sorry if I scared you."
" No you're fine."he replied
" I'm Barbara." she said
" I know..." Adam paused " Nevermind, I'm Adam."
" So, why are you out here? she asked
" Just watching the stars ." he replied " Why are you out here?"
" I was getting lonely." she said brushing her blonde hair out of her face
" I was kind of getting lonely too." he said

   They talked to each other for the remainder of the party. Does he have a crush on a girl he just met? Maybe? He doesn't know. It was probably yes though. She was just so sweet. They continued to chat even when they were called inside. She got to stay a bit later because her mom helped Adams parents clean up, it was 11' o clock, way past their bedtime.

Before Barbara left she gave Adam a hug, he blushed slightly. They waved goodbye to each other and they both smiled.
" Bye Adam." Barbara said
" Bye Barbara." Adam replied
" Someone found a new friend." Adams mom said
" Guess so." Adam said, following his mother inside
