He gulped. It hadn't been a dream. He stood in front of the gates regretfully, wearing the hideously ugly shoes. He sighed.

"Maybe I really have to work here." He muttered and bowed his head with another big heave of a sigh. Here, he gave up refusing to work for Jang Man Wol. She was unbeatable.

He lifted his head and opened the gates that gave a loud creak and strolled into the hotel. The register counter was empty. Wait...he peered closer and screamed when Hyun Joon leapt up behind the counter.

"Oh hello! I'm so glad you'll be working here! I'm so happy!" He said loudly happily and hugged him.

Chan Sung, too surprised, patted his back and politely stepped out of the warm embrace. Cold embrace was more like it as the ghost body touched his own, human, living body.

"Nice shoes by the way." Hyun Joon added, glancing down at his feet. Chan Sung sighed.

"Jang Man Wol gave it to me." He muttered.

"And by the looks of it, you don't like them, do you?"

"I don't like her." Chan Sung mumbled under his breath.

Hyun Joon laughed. "That's what I thought when I first met her. But over time, I realized she's actually a normal woman who just has a different way of looking at things."

"I don't think so."

"Well, I'll escort you inside." Said Hyun Joon with another amused laugh. He was glad that Man Wol at least found a funny man to be the manager.

A surge of regret washed over Chan Sung as he stepped inside the familiar elevator.  Why had he come? Why didn't he simply leave the horrid shoes in the back of his closet and accepted his job at the hotel offer he received before this Hotel Del Luna?

"You know," said Hyun Joon in an unexpected sad voice. "Man Wol doesn't mean to be like what she seems at first glance."

"What, extravagantly dressed, and has the manners of a pig?"

"No!" The worker laughed before turning solemn again. "Jang Man Wol has existed as human for a very, very long time. Perhaps you even met her in your past life, I don't know. But during that long period of time, she has gone through lots of terrible ordeals."

"What do you mean by 'terrible ordeals'?" Chan Sung asked, now growing more and more curious.

"I mean-" But whatever it was, Chan Sung never found out as the elevator came to a stop and the doors opened. Jang Man Wol was standing there,  a wide smirk plastered across her face and her arms crossed. Today, she was dressed in a silky, dark red dress with the most ridiculous . He stared. It was difficult to believe that she went through 'terrible ordeals'. And how old was she that he could have met her in her past life?

"So." She said in an annoyingly smug tone. "You're here." She looked down at his feet. "With your shoes."

All soft feelings, all pity went right out of him, as his heart hardened. To think that he felt sorry for her! Never.

"Yeah." He answered coldly. "I am."

"Smart of you because if you didn't turn up, I was planning to go wherever you went and ambush you into coming and-"

"Yeah, yeah, I don't need to know. I came. So what?"

"You don't know this, but you'll do a great deal to my hotel." She said slowly, her fingers playing with the strands of her long hair.

"And if I don't?"

"Oh I'm sure you will. But we'll see, won't we?"

He froze.

"Now," Man Wol continued, observing her perfect nails closely. "Follow me to your new office where all the important documents and mails will be. You'll be the one taking care of them" She hummed as she walked up the fancy staircase. "Hurry up! I don't have time! I have to re-paint my nails and go to the beach."

"The beach? Isn't it too early?" He blurted.

Man Wol gave the new manager a look as she said, "of course not. It's never too early or late to go to our beach."

"Our beach?"

"Now really hurry up!" There was something in her expression that made Chan Sung wordlessly obey. And as he followed her up the staircase, he realized that everything he could do, everything he found difficult, for Jang Man Wol, it would all be easy as a click.
