In 1947 ,Bubonic had plague become epidemic in Europe and the Mediterranean region . Many believe that the merchant ships that came over the black sea had carried this disease in Europe and the Mediterranean region from other countries. At that time Italy's several cities including vanice were the gateway of Europe's trade .
Some says that plague came to Italy through rats by the chinese merchant ships and spread to Europe's other countries .once the people understood that , rats are the carrier of this disease and the merchant ships are behind it . After knowing that, the ruler of Italy issued a law. Those ships which come from other country would not allow to enter the port until 40 days have passed .This 40 days those ships had to stay quite distance from the port .
In Italian Language the word quaranta is used to mean 40. After long time ,in people's mouth this word has changed and origins the word quarantine .With that the meaning has also changed.Now the word quarantine means Isolation of human or other animal to prevent infection.
