Chapter 3- Unedited
As I drove home, I couldn't stop thinking about the encounter I had with Ethan, but a part of me felt like I was missing something.
I swore long and hard when, I figured what I missed.
"Language!" Junior exclaimed beside me, shit I didn't mean for him to hear that.
What I had missed is that Ethan was a wolf and not just any normal ordinary wolf, he was the water elemental wolf, his smell was the same as ours. I knew every single wolf in our kingdom and there was no way that I could've missed him, he was way too good looking to be missed.
Maybe I'm overreacting, he's probably someone's cousin.
Who am I kidding? I know everyone. I had been too focused on his looks and the connection between us that I missed the obvious fact that he was an unknown water elemental and he was in my territory. The connection was undeniable though, I felt my heart pick up its tempo when I thought of the possibility of him being my mate and I swore again.
"That's it, I'm telling mom," Junior threw his hands up in defeat
I was about to answer him when my phone rang, I checked it and found that it was Scott calling, maybe he had news about Lucy, I hated taking calls while I was driving but this could be important and my anxiety was eating me up.
"Hello," I said into the receiver
"How far are you? Lucy just got here she's at your place and is insisting on talking to you," he tells me
"Did you call her mother? I'm almost there," I know how her mother has been worried about her, she was the first person who deserved to know.
"I'm on my way to get her now, we'll be at your house" I ended the call after that and sped home. Lucy better have a good reason why she had disappeared like that or else I am going to strangle her with my bare hands.
"What's going on?" Junior asked
"Lucy is home,"
"That's good right?"
"Yeah it is, she better have a pretty damn good reason why she disappeared," I gripped the steering wheel when I thought of all the bad things that happen to little girls like her in this world.
"You're just a bundle of swear words today," he muttered to himself looking out the window
"Hey, I'm sorry" I put my hand briefly on his shoulder, "If you don't tell mom, I will buy you ice cream again on Sunday"
"Deal!" he gave me a toothy grin.
We drive all the way home is silence, my head is still reeling from the fact that Ethan is a water elemental and I know nothing about him. When we get home, I take out the groceries and practically run to the house, Junior is already inside.
I get there and find Lucy sitting in the living room, she is with my mother who is still wearing her work uniform, she works at the bank as a loans clerk, I find Lucy's mother, Martha looking at her daughter like she is going to kill her, Aurora is sitting on the stairs just above the sitting room and Scott, Ezra, and Terrence are standing behind the couch Lucy is sitting on.
I put the groceries on the kitchen counter and hurried to the living room, Lucy looks like she is a few minutes from crying.
"Lucy," I start, "Where have you been?" I sit next to my mother on the couch and face her
