(author's note: long chapter so not too many chapters... hopefully... i think this story will be longer than expected)

Grillby walks out the door and has a curious look on his face, indicating he probably heard your swearing. "I left my phone at home, it's not a big problem though!" Hot stuff nods and stands across from you: "It's getting late, How are you going to get home?" The realization struck that you have no clue where you exactly are or how to get home in the first place, you start to have a mini panic attack as a slight shudder goes through your spine when a soft and surprisingly not burning hand is placed on your shoulder "you can stay here for the night, (y/n)"  Grillby says with his smooth husky voice. You're taken aback by his comment and your eyes widen: "r-really? are you sure it's no trouble?" Grillby nods and and walks over towards the back door and signs you to follow, with a slight hesitation you get up from the bar stool and follow him into the back room what appears to be a humble little kitchen area with all the essentials and some other things like a fridge, stove, sink and cabinets. we walk through it and up some wooden stairs to the first floor, taken by surprise there is just a little hallway with one door to the right and a room straight forward with no door. the ceiling is just high enough for the already pretty tall fire monster not to hit his head on, we walk into his quite big bedroom and you take a look around: there's a couch against the wall on the right with a tv in front of it placed on a small table with a dresser placed right behind it and in the back a bed for one person. the walls are dark colored wooden boards with a few windows dotted around looking out to the town and a soft red carpet covers the entire floor. Grillby smiles and sits down on the couch "you can take the bed, I'll sleep on the couch" you look surprised and shake your head "c'mon Grillby, I can't let you sleep on the couch when you're already doing so much for me" "I insist" He says in a more persisting tone I cannot win from being tired like this and let out a sigh of defeat "fine, but I will pay you back somehow!" You say stubbornly and sit down on the bed, kicking off your shoes and taking off your jacket as Grillby looks over at you with a smiling smirk "you don't have to repay me, it's fine" you lightly blush and look away, shyly. "Goodnight (y/n)" when you look back at him Grillby already took off his glasses and laid down "goodnight Grillby" You quickly got under the covers and made yourself comfortable as you slowly drift to sleep with the thoughts of all that happened today.

The shimmering light of the morning shines over you, waking you from your sleep. With a groan you kick off the blankets and get up, trying to open your sleepy eyes. Slowly putting on the shoes next to the bed, you grab your jacket and start walking to the stairs when you hear the sound of a shower and someone humming a familiar tune coming from the door in the hallway and stop in your tracks: "how can water not hurt a fire monster?" the thought stays in your mind as you walk downstairs into the kitchen and came up with the brilliant idea to make him some breakfast as a thank you. as you search for all the ingredient for a simple but delicious breakfast of bacon and eggs, it comes to mind that you never really do this for anyone... but still persistent to pay him back for his kindness. Some time later you place the bacon and eggs on a plate when "hey" the sudden low husky voice behind startled you, almost making you drop the food.

"oh, i'm sorry, did I scare you?" Grillby quickly apologized as you turn around you see him wearing a blue hoodie and black jeans... he's a really quiet person for being so big, you quickly shrug it off and smile softly:"it's alright". He looks surprised as you hold out the plate to him and a purple tint of fire spreads across his cheeks. you wonder what that purple hue is and tilt your head a little: "do you want it or not?" Grillby snaps out of his little trans and takes the plate "thank you, you really didn't have to do this" you couldn't help but smile and stare a little at his fiery face: "it's nothing, just trying to repay your kindness" The purple hue slowly fades and he makes his way to the bar to eat at one of the tables, with you sitting adjacent to him.

Grillby's pov

I really don't know why I blushed there, I guess I just didn't see it coming. "Can I ask a question?" you suddenly hear and look up: "sure" (y/n) takes a moment to look for words and asks "why can't you get hurt by water?" I suppose it is a bit on the weird side for a human. you clear your throat and lean back a little in the chair "well, it can hurt me, but only in large amounts" (y/n) slowly nods and seems to think about it a little before asking "when will you move out?" I didn't expect to change subject so quickly but "I was planning to move out either today or tomorrow, a friend of mine would move all the boxes once I'm done packing" (y/n) nods and gives me a smile i couldn't imagine being so pretty... wait what?

your pov

I smile at him and he looked at me with a little of that purple glow again... is he, blushing? I didn't give it a second thought as he finished eating "have you eaten already?" you shake you head and tell him you're not really hungry for breakfast right now.  he disappears into the kitchen and comes back almost instantly with a phone in his hand. You get up with your jacket on your shoulder, The fire man (no pun intended) was typing on his phone, quite fast too and headed to the door. You followed him and tilt your head a little "where are we going?" Grillby grabbed a winter coat from the coat jack near the front door and looks back at you "we're going home" his words were meant nice, but a shiver goes down your spine and you stare into nothingness, picturing the cold and lonely home you live in. Grillby definitely noticed your change of attitude and walks over, looking down with that same face of concern "you alright, (y/n)?"  you look up at him and force a weak smile on the noticeable face of sadness "yeah, i-i'm fine thanks" you quickly put on your summer coat and try to open the front door...it's locked. You hear the rustling of keys and Grillby stands next to you, still with his concerned look. "I may tell you on the way back, ok?" The monster sighs and unlocks the door, opening it for you to walk through. You tremble from the cold breeze outside, but fold your arms and step outside. Grillby followed you and closed the door behind him and headed left, you walk next to him with an awkward distance in between...

(Author speaking: AHHH, I didn't think this would take so long to write, but here it is i guess. this is not even half way of the story following the plans in my head. sorry for the ones who like the short sweet stories!)
