I stood over the body. It looked dead but you can never be too sure so I crouched over it and checked for a pulse. There wasn't one. I quickly withdrew my hand from the body and put it in my pocket to get my phone. I turned it on and texted Aren telling him to bring the bags and a mop, he replied with "ok." I sighed, turned off my phone, and put it back in my pocket.
I gently padded away from the corpse, in the kitchen, down the narrow hallway, past the tiny loo and to the power box in the house. I switched the lights off all over the house. The darkness seemed reassuring and in some form calming. My mind started to drift and I thought about the song Aren recommended. It was called something like lonely eyes.
Aren knocked on the door so I shuffled out of the way and opened it. He gave me a judgemental look because I was on the floor. I ignored it and pointed to the kitchen. He nodded and walked past me to it.
I was back in the dark loneliness. All I could hear was the ticking coming form the grandfather clock. It had been about half an hour since Aren arrived. He just started mopping. The darkness was getting a bit eerie. I eventually got bored of sitting there so I crawled down the hallway to the bathroom.
The medicine cabinet was open,I found little medicine pills that make you throw up. I took two and turned to the toilet. I waited for a bit. My insides started to feel weird and, then, my lunch came up. I stayed there until I started to dry retch. Aren walked in took one look at me then walked away, I followed.
The body wasn't there and the floor was nice and clean. I went over and picked up the bag, that was now heavy. Aren signalled that we should leave now and he picked up the mop and left. I went after him to the black Mercedes he came in.
I put the bag in the boot and walked round to the passangers seat.
"Drive." I instructed. Aren indicates that he was going to turn and as we were turning a man drove past us, obviously speeding, and nearly hit us.Aren climbed out and walked over to the car. The man climbed out and shoved Aren. I thought it was a bad idea. Aren punched him in the face and said something. The man nodded and got back in his car.
"What's that about?" I asked Aren.
"Nothing, lets just go" Aren said with obvious discomfort. I decided not to press the matter since he already seemed quite stressed. We reached the house and Aren walked around the car and popped the boot. He took
the bag out and walked to the door. I jogged up behind him.
"Xavier, please take a step back. You're stood to close to me," he said. I stepped back and he unlocked the door. He walked in with me a few paces behind him. He turned right and I went left, towards the living room.I walked into the room to find Ryder sat on the couch. He ran over to me and tackled me to the floor in a hug.
"XAVIER WHERE WHERE YOU? I MISSED YOU." he yelled in my ear.
"Not so loud," I sighed. Aren walked in and told Ryder I need to go and meet his father. Aren grabbed my wrist and dragged me out with a bit of urgency. We made it into the dining room and I gave him a confused look.
"We have a job to do," he said and pointed at the bag we brought.
"Let's do it quickly then. " I murmured as I reach forward and grab the bag. Aren grabbed my wrist. I snapped my head up in surprise, he doesn't touch anyone.
"I'll carry it," he hissed. I glared at him and pry his fingers off my wrist. Aren reaches his hand past mine and grabs the bag. He slings it over his shoulder and walks out.
