"Say cheese !," my mother Jen said. I held my diploma and smiled big with my best friend Nyla. After all the commotion settled down, me and Nyla were on our way to Southern State University.
Hey my name is Yahri Smith. Im 18 years old and my hometown is New York. I just graduated Stuyvesant High School. My birthday also just passed 3 days ago on June 7. My best friend is Nyla Jones and she is 17. We been best friends since like diapers. We are 3 weeks apart, her birthday is June 28. We both love doing hair, me also doing makeup and she doing nails. We want to have our own business one day in doing those things. We both are attending SSU and we're excited as hell to be exploring life on our own. My mother is Jen Smith and she is 30 but she is not my biological mother. My biological mother passed when I was 4 and my dad couldn't handle it so he took his own like after I turned 5. It broke me down but I didn't let it affect me for to long because I had a dream to make come true for them. Everything I do is for THEM. I am an only child so im pretty much spoiled. I do have a little brother on the way, my mother is 8 months now and we are all excited to meet the lil man. Jen's husband is Micheal Smith and he is 32. They been married for the longest and still act like they first met. I aspire to be like them one day with somebody special. Anyways enough about me lets get back to the story.
"Girl can you actually believe we're out of that hell hole !," Nyla asked me.
"I really can," I laughed "but we finna go enjoy our time together and do everything crazy while we still young," I said.
"Then yo daddy got us our own apartment, we won't have to stay in them dorms or get different roommates," Nyla said over exaggerating making me laugh.
|At the new apartment| Nyla walked into the apartment and gasped. Yahri's dad brought the apartment earlier before graduation came so they could have time to decorate it and just move in. They really just wanted something simple and not to extravagant.
