"Belgium 1831" Cor started the lesson of the day. It had been raining in New York for days, and it was making me miserable.
"No" Riley exclaimed
"In 1831, Belgium..." Cory continued
"No!" Riley yelled
"What?" I looked at Riley confused
"Riley?"
"What's my thing?" Riley asked
"What's your thing?"
"What am I going to be, dad?"
"Riley, Listen to me very carefully" Cory got his daughters attention "In 1831, Belgium declared it's independence from the Netherlands"
"What will people be thinking of me if I end up living in a subway?" Riley cried
"What if something happens to her?" Maya asked
"I mean she is Maya's meal ticket" I shrugged
"Exactly"
"What? I just saw your two girls this Morning" Cory looked at his daughter and her best friend flabbergasted
"Wat er gebeurd is in België" Farkle yelled in Dutch
"Calm down Farkle, you're speaking in Dutch again" I giggled
"Again?" Nathan questioned
"Echt waar?" Farkle continued to slap himself in the face "Mi educación no debe basarse.."
"No No No, te abofeteaste demasiado fuerte, ¡fuiste hasta el español!" I told him that he slapped himself to hard and all the way to Spanish
"You speak Spanish?" Lucas was shocked
"She's always spoke Spanish" Nathan shrugged
"My mom taught me, and I still like to speak it because it reminds me of her" I smiled
"Her mom was the best Spanish student in the school" Cory added with a smile. Farkle slapped himself again.
"My education should not be based on your daughters mood" Farkle accused
"Neither should mine but it is. If I daughter asks her father 'what's my thing?' This question will resonate in the hearts of all parents from the moment it's asked until the day their children feel comfortable in the world. Pretty soon you're going to join the work force. What's your thing? What do you aspire to? How will you affect people? That's the only history that matters" Cory went off on one again
"Thank you daddy" Riley smiled
"Thank you daddy" Farkle mimicked
"Alright guys, tell you what, let's split the class in two separate businesses and see how you do for yourselves. We'll see if annoying has got anything to worry about" Cory suggested
"Excellent! What will our companies be?" Farkle smirked rubbing his hands together
"It doesn't matter" Cory said before glancing around the room before looking at the muffin on his desk "Muffins, okay? So Riley, Farkle and Lucas, you guys can be Riley, Lucas and Farkle's muffins"
"Oh how original" I said sarcastically
"That can be your thing for the week" Cory shrugged
"I already got my thing. Riley's gonna be my success and I'm gonna sponge off her until she's sick of me. Then I'll move onto Aria and Danny" Maya said
