I See You

Margaret and Peter where having breakfast on Sunday morning when Lena came hurrying down the stairs with a back pack dangling over her left shoulder and a pair of old styles Ray-Ban glasses and her hair tied up in a lose braid.

"Where are you going?" asked Peter, he looked at his daughter as he took a bite off his toasted bread.

"Nicola and I are going to take some photos" explained Lena, she pulled the fridge open and pulled out a water bottle and turned to her parents "I'll be back later"

"Are you taking something to eat?" asked Margaret "You know you can't go by a long time without eating"

"I made some sandwiches last night" said Lena, she patted her back pack and smiled "I'm all set, mom, don't worry"

"Ok" smiled Margaret.

Lena's phone started buzzing, the young woman looked down at it with her heart accelerating, for a while now, every time her phone rang or started to vibrate she couldn't help but feel like something bad was about to happen. She relaxed as Nicola's phone number appeared on the screen.

"My ride is here, I'll see you later!" smiled Lena, she hurried out of the kitchen and towards the door.

"Have fun!" called her mother.

"I will!" Lena answered before she closed the house door behind herself.

Lena walked down the porch and towards the black car parked on her drive way, Nicola was waiting outside the car. Nicola was wearing a pair of sun glasses and dark jeans with a green shirt, his white and blue hair shined under the sun.

"Good morning" smiled Nicola as Lena walked towards him.

"Good morning" Lena answered back.

"Ready to go?" he asked, he walked with Lena towards the passenger door.

"Brought some sandwiches for lunch" smiled Lena, she waited while Nicola opened the car door for her and she stepped in the car; Nicola closed the door and walked towards the driver door.

"I brought some brownies my mom bought the other day" said Nicola as he closed his door and started the car.

"Awesome" smiled Lena "So, do you know where you want to go take photos?"

"Yes" said Nicola, they started to drive up the street "My mom mentioned a lake almost at the town limits"

"Yes" Lena agreed "I'll guide you"

"You better not get us lost, Severide" chuckled Nicola.

"When have I ever done such a thing?" laughed Lena.

Lena had taken off her shoes and had dipped her feet in the lake while Nicola walked around taking photos; Lena looked down at her phone to check, like she had done a few times that day, to see if she had gotten a text.

"Are you waiting for an important call?" asked Nicola as he walked up to Lena.

"What?" she asked as she turned to look at him.

"Are you waiting for a call?" he asked once more, he sat down next to her.

"No, why do ask?"

"You have been checking your phone all day" pointed out Nicola, he looked down at her phone and then back up at Lena "Maybe Junior's call?"

"I'm not waiting for Junior to call me" said Lena, she frowned "Are you crazy?"

"He is kind of your boyfriend" laughed Nicola.
