Nazrul fell asleep holding my hand. He was snoring softly as I pulled my sweating hand and then he stirred a bit. I put the small pillow between his arms and chest. He refused the breakfast served by the air hostess that seemed to know him quite well.
"He doesn't usually have breakfast," she whispered to me when I tried to wake Nazrul up.
I nodded and asked for omelette and coffee. The air hostess didn't look tired at all after more than 11 hours flying. Her name tag says Marina. I like that name.
"Enjoy your breakfast," said Marina as she pushed the trolley to serve the passengers behind me.
"Thank you," I replied sleepily. I thought I slept for three hours which was quite surprising as I always had trouble falling asleep on unfamiliar places.
Nazrul only woke up after the flight has safely landed. "Good morning," he said as he adjusted his watch according to local time. I did the same to my watch.
"Hi! Good morning. Did you sleep well?" I gave him the sweetest smile I could and prayed that his mood would be a lot better today.
"Surprisingly yes. I hadn't had a good sleep for some time." He combed his hair with his fingers.
"Great. Let's hope we're fresh for the meeting this afternoon." Is started putting my things in my handbag.
"Oh! We're not having any meeting today. Ku Na is. She has arrived yesterday. So, it will just be free and easy for us." Nazrul was cheerful.
"I see. No wonder you're planning to take me to that restaurant." I laughed. "Do we have to meet Ku Na or anyone else today? You did mention we're having a few short discussions, right?"
"Hey! We don't have to work everyday. You have my permission to pause everything. Just enjoy the city. You don't come here every week, right?" He patted my shoulder.
"Aww! Thank you. I can't wait to explore Istanbul." There were so many things I needed to see and do so that I could tell my mom, who had been dying to come to this beautiful city since she was young.
"You know what?"
"What?"
"You look just like a school girl just now." Nazrul laughed and jabbed my shoulder and it annoyed me.
"Don't do that in public, please." I raised my index finger.
Nazrul was taken aback. Perhaps he never realized that I didn't like it. "OK, I'm sorry. I won't do that anymore. But can I just hold you?"
"What?" My handbag almost fell off my slippery hands.
"Just kidding." Nazrul laughed and I thought his twinkling eyes made him look like a school boy too.
