Since it was a Sunday afternoon it meant that there were no buses running so I would have to walk to grandmother’s house. The walk to grandmothers’ house is a two-hour walk, and she would probably make me stay for two hours. By then it would be too late to walk home, so I would have to stay the night, and grandmother was a little bit crazy so there was no way I was doing that. The short cut only took one hour to walk to grandmothers house, but it was through the ugly side of the city where every criminal lives. I sighed. I had two options: the first one was to take the long route and stay at my grandmothers, or take the short route, and get murdered or robbed. I bit my lip in concentration. The short cut, I was going to take the short cut.

I was nearly finished my walk through the ugly part of the city when I saw something, something that raised the hairs on the back of my neck. Wolf. Not the four legged animal, but Wolf as in the serial killer Wolf that’s been all over the news.

“Well, well, well, what do we have here?” The Wolf growled, a sickening smile formed on his face. “A sweet little girl, all on her own?”

I gulped.

”L..Leave me alone. Please?” I stammered.

“Ha, I’m afraid I cant do that.” He said walking closer.

“W…why cant you?” I questioned.

“You must be pretty stupid to ask me that. I mean what kind of serial killer lets someone go?” He replied pausing. “How about this; you run as fast as your feet can, and I chase you. It has been getting a bit boring killing people the way I usually do.”

I stared into his vacant, emotionless eyes, and nodded.

“Then run fast.” The Wolf said venom dripping from his mouth.

I did exactly as he said, and sprinted as fast as humanly possible for a girl my size. A few pieces of my blond hair fell out of my ponytail and into my face. Great. I whipped my head backwards to see how far behind the Wolf was. He wasn’t far behind and was slowly gaining on me. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and quickly dialed the police.

“Hello operator speaking. What is your emergency?” A lady said on the other end of the phone.

“Help…help… the Wolf… after…me.” I panted.

“Okay miss don’t hang up we’re tracking your signal”

I nodded even though she couldn’t see me. After a few turns, trying to shake the Wolf of my tail I soon saw my grandmother’s street. I raced towards her house with tears running down my face, and unlocked her door with the keys in my pocket. I locked the door behind me and ran into the nearest closet, hoping it was a good hiding spot.

As I hid in the closet I realized that the Wolf was never going to let me go. He wasn’t the type of criminal that suddenly had a change of heart. With that thought in mind I trembled and cried some more.
