Fae Wars: Ice Boundaries

Prologue

Ena's POV

Today was not the first time I knew something strange existed between Mason and me. I met him twice before each time strange things occurred. The first time he was just an infant when or souls brushed against each other. His father a Leo of a pride in the British Isles and had been visiting the Bastet queen in South America. I too had been visiting since I count the queen as a friend. I'd just promised to help another friend sneak off with his true mate when I accidentally bumped into an older Leo.

He had brought his infant son to the Queen for a special blessing. Since the Bastet had been sterile for so long his son Mason was the first born aside from the royal twins since the cure had been found. When my hand brushed the babes hand the sky rumbled and lightning flashed and struck the ground at my feet.

In fear I had growled and shown my fangs to the Leo. In response he hissed and showed me his teeth. We might have become aggressive with each other had not the small babe purred and reached out with his spirit to touch both mine and his fathers.

Then several years later I met the Leo and his young son again. This time they were on a vacation in Disney World and I had taken my grandson for the afternoon. The Leo and his wife recognized me and asked to have lunch together.

During the lunch the small boy kept touching me and saying mine. It was a little awkward but since he was only four I couldn't help but find it endearing. Then just as we said our goodbyes and I prepared to go home I felt my soul shimmer and vibrate.

At that exact moment the air became thick and the small hairs on my arms stood on end. Then the ground shook as at our feet as thunder rumbled across the sky. I was almost expecting lightening again when instead the small four year old child looked skyward and shouted

"She's mine now and I shall have her forever"

Everything instantly quieted and I found myself confused, afraid and a bit embarrassed. I was a mature grown woman and had no real explanation for what had just occurred. I said quick goodbyes and headed home.

The moment I arrived in South America this morning, I somehow knew Mason was there. I kept feeling this odd sensation coming from my soul. It would vibrate and shimmer and the sky was rumbling with thunder. I looked around the camp trying to locate Rena or Micah. I finally spotted them near the center of camp speaking with a young man that could have been a doppelganger for my dead beloved.

I swallowed hard and felt my legs become weak. For a moment I actually thought I might pass out. The world was spinning and I felt myself slowly falling to the ground. Then just before I completely collapsed strong arms wrapped around me and the young man I just somehow knew was once the little boy Mason said in a jovial voice

"Now, now love. I know how much of a shock finding your true mate can be but it's not a dirt kissing occasion. How about kissing me instead?"
