CHAPTER NINE Self Preservation

NOW THAT THEY FOUND NEAL AND SAVED HIM, the next step was to come up with a plan to get off the island. Neal's only plan was to capture Pan's shadow and as soon as Zelda heard that, her spine tingled. She couldn't forget how painful it was when she felt her own shadow tearing through her skin when she made the mistake of upsetting Pan.
"We thought you knew how to navigate the stars," David said with his arms crossed.
"I can, but what I can't do is fly," Neal clarified.
"I'm assuming that's where the shadow comes in," Mary Margaret said.
"That's why we need to capture it," Neal said.
"We've never even been within ten feet of Pan unless he wanted it to happen. Sneaking up on him to steal his shadow sounds insane," Emma said.
"You could also risk getting your own shadow ripped out of your body," Zelda said while leaning against a tree. "Speaking from personal experience, it's rather painful."
"That does not help this plan whatsoever," Emma said while looking at Zelda.
"Just something for you to keep in mind," Zelda said with a fake smile.
"Another thing to keep in mind is that Pan's shadow is rarely with him. It's an entity in itself and it can carry out his will from miles away," Killian explained.
"What does that mean for us?" David questioned.
"It means we can get his shadow without having to be anywhere near Pan as long as we know where to look, which I do," Neal said.
"Alright then. You and I will be on Shadow duty," Emma said while looking at Neal and standing up.
"So will I. This trek will not be easy. You could also use someone who knows the island," Killian said and Neal thanked him.
"In the meantime, we'll give Tinker Bell a head's up. See if she'll make good on her promise to get us into Pan's camp," David said.
"Zelda will travel with us," Mary Margaret said.
"We will meet back at Tink's, we get Henry and we get the hell off this island," Emma said before walking away.
Everyone started packing their stuff and getting ready to carry out their mission. While Emma, Neal and Killian were going to find Pan's shadow and capture it, Mary Margaret, David and Zelda were going to go find Tinker Bell and tell her about their escape plan. Mary Margaret made sure her arrows were ready and that they had water and David made sure he had his sword. Zelda carried her spear as they walked through the jungle and David offered them some water. Zelda didn't hesitate but Mary Margaret refused.
